Frankly, I think is more than enough for such a heavy car Smiley The dynamics of these heavy machines at high speed are not to underestimate. The problem is that most buyers probably don't have a clue about these risks...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Looked at the new Panamera out of interest when I was arranging the service of our Boxster  last week. Porsche have done a great job, even though I'm no fan of big limousines. I guess if you want a very good clue of what the next 911 interior will look like - this is it, particularly the slick new centre console. Makes 991 look quite old fashioned, if I was in the market for a new 911 I think I'd wait a couple of years - unless I had money to burn.

Wait until the Panamera Turbo S hybrid is released!

It may not improve top speed by much, but it will attain speed in no time at all.

355 kg difference between Panamera 4 and 4 hybrid

Turbo is 1995 kg, so the 2.400 kg are round up. Turbo s has some extras as standard.

The acceleration with lunch control is crazy - I have made a short video, but I'm nut sure if it is good idea to preset it here.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

What kind of pure electric range does it have? I can't see how the hybrid stuff adds 800 lbs unless it's got a ton of batteries and range, which I didn't think it did. At 2400 kg, it might as well be a full EV...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Told you guys last year the incoming Panamera Turbo S will be a monster smiley

2400kg is very comparable to a Teslas Model S. But the Panamera will be infinite more practical, no need to find charging stations every 10 mins and a lot more luxurious, and it will handles.

it will likely retain the 14.1kWh battery from the 4 hybrid, that's more than double the size of the 6.8kWh battery in the 918, and the 918 battery weights in at 138kg. Range in the 4 hybrid is an estimate 50km for government test cycles, so the Turbo S should be just around there or slightly below.

Total stopgap product supposed to be a showcase. Panamera practical? 4 seats and no trunk... On top of a whole line 30% overpriced it is a very very tough sell.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

I hate to say it but I think I would prefer a model s p100d here in the US. Would cost a good $60-70k less too.

For me the only advantage of the panamera is prob handling. And the Panamera is a good 30% too expensive.

    + brakes

    + steering

    + quality

+ performance in higher speed ranges (not relevant in the US, I agree, but in Germany the Tesla is extremely slow beyond 180kph)

    + Independance of electricity

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

    Add styling to the list.

Not crazy about the rear treatment of the Tesla.

    Brakes ok give you that.

steering. Ok important on my sports car. Sedan not so important.

Quality. I prefer my tesla to any of my bmws. And the 991 feels v old in comparison. Also the panamera should be better since its at least 30% too expensive.

Peformance. Ok above 80mph yes. But the tesla would be there seconds before the panamera. In gear the panamera would loose also. The instant torque on the tesla is so yummy

Independence of electricity. Depends. My wife has not been to a gas station in 2 years and she loves that.

Anyways didn't want to make this into a tesla fest.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Well, your points are valid, since they are coming from actual usage of particular car. We must be aware that Tesla is very young company, so yeah, Model S is big success.

2.4 t car from Porsche doesnt sound revolutionary, nor sports oriented. You will have impression that Turbo S is sporty, but that impression is masked. True fact is, new Turbo S is fat pig.

Comes back to the question of charging vs filling gas.

5 mins to fill a tank with 10s of thousands of gas stations. No need to remember plug the car into the wall every night. Car can be parked on the street instead of garage cause no need to be near a plug.

Very easy to do, I am out already. Soon my Cayenne Turbo S will need to live on the street too.

To further that point, people living in apartments may not have a plug near their parking spot either. London townhouses also relies on street parking. There are many examples.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

I got my wife the model x to replace her i3 and x5. I think she forgot once to not plug in the i3 in 14k miles in 2 years. Now she wants another i3 along side the tesla for doing short trips. She loves the small size and zippy performance. She hates filling up.

Given we rarely do trips over 200miles we have not had any issues with range.

If I can get another good lease deal from tesla I will be getting a model s p100d.

The new GT3 will fill the void of any ICE sports car for me even if all my family cars can beat it at the lights.

You are in no way close to the typical person when it comes to car ownership, even in wealthy demographics. If you didn't own a bunch of exotics, you'd simply park a different car on the street.

I'm not sure picking a single, congested and dense city in the world is very indicative of anything. Hell, most people wouldn't even bother having a car in London.
