    BSL, I'd love for it to not be a rumor since I am in the market for a Boxster S... But unless you have some solid evidence to back that up, I'm afraid that's all it is...a big, wishful thinking, rumor.

    Porsche will not communicate such an upgrade before the actual cars hit the showrooms..... Just think back at the PCM upgrade with the MP3 capability..this was confirmed by Porsche the moment the first cars with this feature left the factory.

    Of course, that's pretty obvious. If they did announce it, it would pretty much guarantee that people such as myself (who is in the market) would WAIT instead of buying NOW...

    The more "solid" evidence that I believe people are looking for is something like what was alluded to above - i.e. - a "build sheet" from the dealer or even a document from the dealer that that person could no longer order a 3.2L Boxster S for MY2007 since it's "not available".

    The point is, what's stopping me from writing here stating that my dealer stated that "they are out of MY2006, but they can order a MY2007 with a 3.2L TURBO instead". You see, I just made that up - but this is one way how rumors are started...

    Just as stated in previous posts, having a 3.4L Boxster S would go against Porsche's marketing for the Cayman S... But having said that, a 3.4L Boxster S with more hp would certainly help differentiate the Boxster S more vs. the BMW M Roadster with 330 hp...

    I called the local dealer to discuss ordering a specced '07 987S and they confirmed that for '07 the Boxster S is to get the 3.4 from the Cayman with a price increase (same as BSL said). No other details were available (or were voluntarily divulged) as the '07 order guide is yet to be published.

    I wonder if it will be a roughly 3% increase as it was from '05 to '06? I'm betting on more since it's getting a new engine as well. Any update on base pricing/config? Will it get the current 3.2? If so, I'll be very, very angry.

    I'd say - no way. Rumors say 2.7 L / 245 HP for both Cayman and Boxster base models (but that's just rumors - like anything else unless officially announced).
    A mere HP difference of 15 HP between base model and "S" model would make either the base model or the "S" model obsolete.

    Still kind of confused on how they plan on pricing the models if the 987S is getting a 15 hp increase. What's going to be the Cayman selling point now? The justification Porsche used for the Cayman pricing was 15 hp / increased structural rigidity over a Box S. If they Cayman S and Box S have the same power (and assuming Porsche keeps the same price relation -- Cayman more expensive), why would someone pay MORE for a hardtop? Defies logic.

    My feeling is that Porsche, in addition to the engine, are going to massage the specs. of the two "S"s so much, that only someone with a mathematics degree is going to be able to unravel it all. Cayman similar price, higher spec. Boxster much higher price, much higher spec. Job done. Get those price lists printed Fritz.
