    MKSGR:

In contrast to herbalizer Chris Harris does not seem too impressed Smiley

    "Best Lamborghini I drove"...

Markus, Chris Harris drove a Bugatti Chiron, so why would he be impressed with any car?  Smiley

Kidding aside, Chris Harris never seem to have liked Lamborghini, for whatever reason.

Also keep in mind that he came to money (and international fame) now, so he can be very picky if he wishes to.

Besides that, his enthusiasm for cars seem to have died down a bit anyway, at least this is my impression. Maybe too much work? When fun becomes work and work becomes stress, well... Smiley

Or he just doesn't like Lamborghini. Smiley

I think he was banned from driving Lamborghinis 1-2 years ago.

But now he is on Top Gear...so hes best friends with Lambo again.

Chris Harris is a great reviewer and fun to watch. I just have a hard time understanding his, sometimes, "erratic" behavior. For example when he started to drive the R8 and loved it and then the whole review took a very negative turn because he heavily criticized the various driving setting modes he didn't seem to understand and/or set up properly. You don't have to be a genius to do that and I am pretty sure he had someone to ask.

I like him though, he really tries to feel the cars he is reviewing but I think that he is a little bit too focused on his personal preferences. Just imagine me reviewing a Tesla S... Smiley Smiley

Re: Huracán Performante in "6.52 something" at the Ring?

A lap record!?! That's impossible, according to several Rennteam pundits...

Re: Huracán Performante in "6.52 something" at the Ring?

    Trofeo R.

Re: Huracán Performante in "6.52 something" at the Ring?

New Trofeo Rs vs all old tires. 918 will blow it out of the water on new Trofeo R.

    Trofeo R.

So what? The record lap on the Nordschleife has been achieved on the very same tire. Smiley

Also, the Cup 2 ZP Mercedes or GM are using for their sportscars is as sticky as the Trofeo R, no doubt about it.

    Got some info:

The article is focused on the hotlap: after half lap, Perfarmante was 0.3s faster than 918, Porsche is faster in the last (short) straight, thanks the monstre power.
Trofeo R tires give an hand, thanks the high grip and better fading than Corsas. aggressive engine and brakes, powerful

Don’t forget that the 918’s hybrid system can’t complete the entire lap under full power in hot lap mode.  Therefore, for much of the second half of the lap, the 918 has a distinct power disadvantage compared to the Performante as the battery pack recharges.

Re: Huracán Performante in "6.52 something" at the Ring?

And the Performante's tires will be toast on lap 2 anyway. These hot laps occur with tires that are one and done on such a long lap, and the cars do weigh a hell of a lot more than race cars.

Depends on the length of the laps... Smiley Two Nordschleife laps? Likely. Two Hockenheim Kleiner Ring laps? Unlikely.

The crappiest semi-slick is the Cup 2 with Audi rating available for my R8. A guy I know with the same car told me that this tire lasts a round or two (on a short track in summer) and then it starts loosing grip ("smearing"). Tried the Cup 2 on a test car and while I like this tire a lot (impressive wet performance for a semi slick), I do not understand why Audi didn't go the full nine yards here to offer an excellent semi-slick instead of an allrounder. Smiley Only reason I didn't get it for my car is the fact that it lasts only around 6-8k km. I do that in less than a year.

Just saying, 918 spyder had inferior tires.

Besides, this is a short track so you cannot take advantage of your higher power.

Good time, but yeah, as expect it was using "what might be the most adhesive set of tires on the road legal side of a hill-climb slick."

Makes sense given that it was a little quicker in the dry, but 5s slower in the wet even though it's AWD.

Who cares though? The car is fast, looks amazing, drivers amazing...only thing missing would be more power but I guess this is the price you have to pay for a wonderful n/a V10 engine. Smiley

Weight reduction over the extra power for me, even at 550 ~ 600 hp would suffice as long as it meets my target weight Smiley

So we won't see a lighter Huracán, I guess. But will there be another NA-V10 with the facelift and another NA-V10 in a Performante.2 based on the Huracán facelift? Smiley

I'm just saying it's an indication of how aggressive the tires are over Corsas etc. I maintain that the majority of the performance gain is tires.

His wish, he says, is for them to be around “for as long as possible”. Reggiani concludes: “Naturally aspirated is part of the DNA of a super-sportscar. No other [type of] engine can provide the emotion, the response, the sound. It’s unique – and that makes the difference today for Lamborghini.”

Well, his wish is his wish but VW Group decides where the voyage is going to...

The V12 stays for sure, this has been confirmed by various sources.

The V10 is still a huge question-mark because the engine is at it's power end and to be competitive, Lamborghini needs to look for a 7xx power figure in their next Huracan generation. At the same time, they need to adjust to new emissions standards. Weight reduction? Let's not kid ourselves here anymore. We all know that substantial weight reductions aren't possible anymore for various reasons. How does McLaren do it? I haven't seen a single crash test with a McLaren and McLaren customers usually don't ask for comfort/assisted driving systems features. Yet.

All I know is that right now, there is a lot going on at VW Group and we should be careful with what anyone from their brands says right now. In two weeks, this can already be obsolete. Smiley
