    But then again why bother, the California is great as it is, I wouldn't replace mine with any variant of regular 991. It is the ONLY exotic car convertible where my kids fit in. Ownership experience is great, kids love it (red/tan) and it can be a decent daily driver with PDK and hard roof, expect of course for very low temps and snow. A very unique offering which could only be challenged by a convertible GT3 with 4 seats. Worse for Porsche is the price gap with a nice 991 is collapsing and if you factor in how well the California holds in the used market, the California is cheaper. I have had mine for 5 years and it only depreciated $50k. That's two years of Porsche depreciation if you are lucky. Even including the Ferrari idiosyncrasies (shrinking leather, fuel flap sticky, sticky buttons), it beats Porsche experience.

    @Scifrog  - your kids must me pretty young because those seats are vestigial.

    Not teenagers yet... Still works. When they get bigger they will have to put up with the 612 and no more open roof...

    About the average age of 911 owners and thus no doubt the age of their kids by that point, most likely.

    Happens all the time here in Europe. In fact just stepped out of my Targa Florio with the children.

    My kid loves the back. And had plenty of adults in the back for short trips around town. 

    Once in university, took a 930 [with no air-con] from Vancouver to Las Vegas. 3 guys. No one died. Had blast. Would do it again. Its just a matter of attitude.

    At 1.74 meter height, the backseat of a 911 is sufficiently spacious. blush

    I remember riding in the back of my friend's dad's 911SC back in the late 70's - great experience (motor sounds even better back there).

    Smiley Even my wife spends half an hour or so in the back of my 911 when we drive with the kids to Munich or to a lake nearby. She doesn't feel very comfortable but my daughter is almost as tall as me and really doesn't fit in the back anymore. My son is 13 and has reached it's height limit for the back of the 911, soon we won't fit in the rear anymore and he already complains. Up to age 10? No problem, kids love the 911.

    Another advantage of a cabriolet though: With open top, even taller persons feel OK in the rear but not very comfortable.The problem is leg room (the front seats need to be as much in front as possible) and of course the inclination of the backrest of the backseats. I wouldn't ride in the back of the 911, as an adult, if I had back problems.

    Ferrari has applied patent drawings for a new hypercar that appears to be based around the LaFerrari.

    That's not new. That was just an LF concept most likely. They have something similar in the museum. Definitely cooler than the production car though.
