    Camp4 2006

I got back a couple of weeks ago from Porsche's trip, Camp4. I thought it was an incredible experience that I would highly recommend to anyone. Many of you will know that Camp4 is a trip organized by Porsche Travel Club in Rovaniemi, Finland. The trip lasts for about 4 days in which you learn to drive in snow and ice at the Arctic Driving Center. The trip is very well organized and a lot of fun. I was lucky to sign up for it this year and not last as all cars are now 997s C4S . We also drove the Cayman S and Cayenne S.

Everyday we would start driving at around 8:30am and finish around 4:30. As days go by the driving gets more fun as the tracks you drive in become more interesting

I have attached here a few pics from the trip for your viewing pleasure. Frankly I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I arrived at the garage the first morning and saw all the beautiful 997s sitting there, of course the equally beautiful Porsche hostesses made the whole image even more of a dream. Porsche Travel really does a good job organizing a full day pack with activities. evening activities included snow-bikes, quads, carts, dinner at the ice restaurant, etc, etc. And of course every day would end at the hotel's bar.
I am not an expert as many in this forum but I can tell you I loved driving every car we tested. The red 997 C4S was just a beauty. I was amazed how fully equipped the car was, all leather, PCM, PCCB, phone module, 19" C. Classics, adaptive sport seats, anti-fog mirrors, sport chrono, sport exhaust..... Soon I figured probably Porsche wanted to showcase all the extras they have on offer, and I am thankful as I felt like a kid in a candy store. Most of us drove a Red 997 C4S but all the instructors had a 997 C4S cabrio, I guess they really needed one in the arctic circle at -20 Celsius! The Caymans and Cayennes were as fully equipped as the 997s. By the way, the Cayman looks great. I really think Porsche did a nice job with it. One thing that occurred to me looking at the Cayman was how good a Targa version of the car would look. Maybe some of you Photoshop experts can work on it.

After driving the 997C4S with sport exhaust I can see why more than an option it is a must have. Driving the 997 C4S was great fun. I was amazed how a car with such big ass tires (and ass) handle so well in the ice and snow.

I will write more later on my driving impressions, for now enjoy the pics.
