All I know is that the PCM 3 will have iPod integration and that it is planned for the current PCM 2 too. When will it be available? Don't have a clue. We hoped to see PCM 3 on the new 997 Turbo but I've been told today that it is very unlikely since PCM 3 seems to be planned for introduction with the Cayenne facelift in early summer 2007.

Guys, a few weeks more and we have all details.

Re: 997 TT has Ipod integration or not ..? !?

do you know more about the PCM3? bigger screen, maybe touchscreen etc?

Re: 997 TT has Ipod integration or not ..? !?

why a bigger screen? why a touchscreen? All touchscreens are dirty. Bigger screen doesn't fit in a 997. Maybe in a Cayenne, but there is the screen large enough.

I agree... the PCM2 screen size is perfect now....

Re: 997 TT has Ipod integration or not ..? !?

I would leave the size of the screen unchanged but I would increase resolution to get crisper images ...

Touchscreen is useless and as a consequence the screen is always dirty and you don't see it very well.

On PCM2, The way to enter addresses isn't really user-friendly, it's a bit rigid and time consuming but it doesn't bother me that much.

What I don't like is when you enter a circuit with 4-5 points and you don't go exactly to one point (for example point 2). Then when you want to go to the next one (point 3), the GPS system will guide you "back" to point 2 !!!! A part from that I believe it's a fine system.

Re: 997 TT has Ipod integration or not ..? !?

I guess you guys have never used a touchscreen NAV before? Its well worth it, especially if you're inputing a destination as a virtual keyboard pops up so you don't have to scroll to find the letters. Plus they've invented something that coats the screen so even dirty fingers prints won't hinder the display. Anyway, are you guys gardening inside your Porsches?

Touchscreen is nice, my portable Magellan Roadmate has it but I still prefer the PCM system like it is. I just wish I would get more information on the display like oil/water temperature, rear differential temperature, motronic readout (just for fun), etc. And I would love to be able to watch DVD videos (especially music videos) while I'm sitting (not driving!) in the car.

Re: 997 TT has Ipod integration or not ..? !?

Not sure if the PCM-2 has the feature, but it is about time they introduce address search via zip codes.

Re: 997 TT has Ipod integration or not ..? !?

and synchronization with the address book of my mobile phone!

Re: 997 TT has Ipod integration or not ..? !?

    bluetooth please ;-)

PCM 3 definetely offers Bluetooth but like I said before, we heard today that PCM 3 will be introduced with the Cayenne facelift and not the 997 Turbo. I still hope this information isn't right but...

Re: 997 TT has Ipod integration or not ..? !?

    - Correct a touchscreen to enter addresses is normally much easier. I have a TomTom Go and I must admit it's better than turning the knob back and forth.... But I think you can "waste" 3 minutes to enter your destination .... because you don't do it that often... Actually, in Japan, cars must be stopped to be allowed to enter a new address.

    - To synchronise the address book with a cell phone or outlook would be great.

    - I believed it was possible to hook-up a camcorder or a DVD player to the PCM2 to watch a movie while the car is not in motion.

    - RC is right a bit more info on the screen would be welcome ...

    - Bluetooth I don't know, why not, I don't care much about it. If you're by yourself in the car, it's no big deal to hear your correspondent in the speakers, and if you're not by yourself, your passenger can hear everything regardless of the system used....

What about HD radio? What about sat?

I would love to see XMRadio over here in Germany, unfortunately it isn't available. Europe is working on the new DAB radio standard but it isn't too interesting in my opinion since it actually delivers the "old" stuff just in a modern way of transmission. I'm not really interested.

XMRadio would be a success in Germany too, I wonder why the company doesn't consider to bring it to Europe too?!

I'm sure XM and Sirius are looking into a European roll-out, however, it will be very expensive. I think (speculate) that they would need to launch a new set of satellites just to cover that hemisphere = $$$$$$ Wait until they actually become profitable, then things will happen (next year or two)

Re: 997 TT has Ipod integration or not ..? !?

I spend quite a bit of time in the states for work and last time I was there I actually had a rented car with sirious radio and I have to say it was great

However, I can live for many more years without it as long as I get Ipod integration
