It just so happens that one of my friends from school is a valet. He's a nice guy but after talking to him there's no chance i'd ever valet a car, even if it is a beater. I believe that he's only been in an incident with 1 car (believe he backed a mini cooper into an F350, no damage). however thats no what scares me, what scares me is the one story he tells of the slower business nights like taking a 996TT up to 180km/h in the city around Vancouver's old indy track!!!
A repair shop scares me too because you never know what 25yo mechanic is going to do with your $150,000 car on their test drive.
I've got a solution though: go to wallmart and buy a pedal bike

I agree with you 100% it is just a car.
To some people here you would think the 997 is part of the family like a kid or something. No matter what a car can be replaced so I don't put that much value on it.

Although my 997S Cab has been sitting in my garage all Winter, ii is still the most exciting car I have ever owned (so far.) But, Cars come and go. I enjoy and value fine material things. Just like my favorite cigars or Cabernet Sauvignons, I enjoy them whenever I can. I will never hesitate to share them with my friends.
If I find any better ones, I will not hesitate to make them my NEW favorite either.

NO to valet. Too many curbs, steep driveway aprons. My wife can wait 10 minutes in the lobby for me to catch up.
With one exception; quarterly dinner that I attend for a professional association, older fellow valet--always the same person, he knows his cars, looks a little like Roger Penske I let him park it; he's probably a better driver than I am..

I guess some of you folks run your car thru a machine wash or park it next to a beater ( and surrounded by a dozen shopping carts) at a Walmart- why not, it's only a car. 
I wish I had your kind of money that I can pretty much care less if my baby gets trashed because I can just buy another one tomorrow. No way, would I knowingly allow some pimple faced kid park my baby.

No one is saying that. I mean I am not saying that. I take care in parking my car so hopefully no one will hit it. (although I have been backed into after parking my car away from others). I also don't think anyone is saying just throw money away either. What I am saying is at the end of the day it is just a car. Now I know we pay crazy money for them but it can be replaced and most likely will be replaced. I'm sure most if not everyone here takes excellent care of their "babies".

Way back in High School I use to valet. I never took anyone car and had a joy ride or had any accidents. I did have one customer who said I wrecked his car even though I didn't even drive it. The owner was outside with me and decided to park this one himself. Either the owner did it or it was already scratched. I believe it was already scratched but who knows. It was a cool job except when winter and rain came
