Please explain how the 997tt will be faster than the corvette Z06, the turbo has 25hp less and will probably weigh more than 400lbs more than the vette? I love Porsche, but wish they would wake up and make the turbo a monster. Since the 993-997 there has only been 80hp increase and that stinks, why cant the turbo have more hp than the cayenne turbo S... and my whole reason for being pissed is that i live in an area where i am surrounded by C5/C6 and Z06 vettes which bug me when i hear them yell out porsche sucks and these are adult men not kids, to make things worse the new C6 Z06 can really eat up porsches model lineup with the exception of the CGT. You future 997tt owners know you guys are going to be nervous when a C6 Z06 is next to you at a stop light, if your not your kidding your self. PORSCHE please go back and race as a FACTORY!!!!!!
You're not serious, are you???!
Porsche driving is not about red light racing.
You have to look at the whole package.
Best example: the "old" 996 Turbo. It has 420 HP only, it is almost 6 years old but it did the Nordschleife BELOW 8 minutes (to be precise: 7:56). Look at the newer cars on the market like the BMW M6, BMW M5, even the Corvette C06 which is much lighter and has almost the same power...NONE of them came even close to the 996 Turbo.
If you want to win red light races, I suggest you buy one of those supercharged rice burners with NOS system.
Why would "factory racing" improve their cars? Look at Ferrari: does the F430 have 700 HP? They can't even make the F430 have a decent track performance without using semi-slicks. Funny enough, the "old" 996 Turbo S still kicks the F430's a...
I agree with one thing only: I don't think that 480 HP are enough, from a marketing point of view. The Mercedes SL 55 AMG got 500 HP for a couple of years now. Also look at the direct competitors from Lamborghini and BMW.
Porsche should have given the 997 Turbo 500 HP flat. End of discussion. There would still have been room for more in a GT2 and the Turbo S. But I guess it was about money again, they want to sell their damn powerkit and of course they want to leave some "air" to the top for other models.
And finally, comparing the Cayenne Turbo S power with the 997 Turbo power doesn't make any sense. Why don't you compare the power of the Mercedes S 65 AMG with the 997 Turbo then? You can't compare Apples to Oranges.
And finally: I love all those demands for more power but I bet that 99% of those who demand monster power, can't even handle it. Maybe on the straight line.
So please, guys: before asking for more power, how about asking for a free driving ed event?
