    Question re my 2005 slk 55 amg

    Just received my new slk 55 amg. The side mirror on the driver's side has a rubber border around the glass which is missing from the one on the passenger side. The dealer told me that's the way it comes which makes no sense to me. Could someone check their 2005 slk 55 and let me know if their car is the same. Thanks

    check on the main canada merc website and phone up merc costomer service complain about it , make sure you are so serious about it .

    ps. don let go of those cowboy saleman .

    Perhaps it's because it is auto dimming and the passenger one is not.

    Actually on the 996, when you order the auto dimming mirrors, only the central and driver one are dimming. Not the passenger one.
    Not the case anymore on the 997!

    lol! that's a first. but with regards to the SLK55, i'm sure it's both as it is on my SL55... i'm sure they would have done the same on the AMG SLK?

    lol! that's a first. but with regards to the SLK55, i'm sure it's both as it is on my SL55... i'm sure they would have done the same on the AMG SLK?

He figures the border may interfere with this increased movement. Maybe he's right but it just doesn't look right and he's either BSing me or he's making an honest mistake. I have e-mailed Mercedes Canada and hope to get a reply within 48 hours. Will let you know the outcome.

    my x5, touareg and SL also do the tilting down of the passenger mirror when in reverse, but none of them have that "extra" seal on the side of the driver's side mirror....

    I belive my SLK32's only has auto dimming mirrors on the rear view and drivers side mirror.

    Yes its normal, the rubber is for the liquid that is for the auto-dimming and on Merc's its only on the driver side, because they expect you to use the passenger side mirror correctly, for tbe blind spots. And when you do that, there won't be glare.
