The 488 GTB is an amazing product, there is no reason to bash it. I like the look of the 458 more and I'm not a fan of the turbo charged engine, even if it sounds great in comparison to the 991 Turbo S for example but for it's price tag (in Germany very similar to 991 Turbo S), it is really a very nice product from Ferrari. I would only choose the 675LT over the 488.

Only 675LT, not also Huracan? Smiley

Huracan Performante? Yes. Current Huracan? Not so sure. I love my R8 V10 Plus (which is basically a Huracan with R8 body) but the 675LT and the 488GTB are at a different performance level, especially on the Autobahn. I was able to follow a 488 Spider but 488 Coupe? I doubt it.

I was able to keep up with the 675 up to 160 kph or so and afterwards, it was embarrassing. Smiley Different performance class in the upper speed range I'm afraid.

I am very curious about the new Huracan Performante though.

Hmm, I guess new Perfomante won't bring much of a change concerning straight line speed like Autobahn driving for example, since it will be still NA and only 30hp more and 100kg less or so. Still too far away from turbo-charged cars like 488 or 675. That may change on a curved mountain road or on a track, but a NA-engine this side of a big V12 (and sometimes even those) won't be able to hold a candle to current turbo-charged torque monsters, even the glorious 5.0 NA-V10 of the Huracán. Where to hell do you meet all this cars on highway to challenge?

I was driving in 2016 about 6.000 km with my 650s and 3.000 km with my GT3RS and I never have met such cars which would challenge with me or me with them. And I live in Stuttgart region.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

I do not meet them accidentally of course...

We have a huge sportscar community in my region and many of the users and some friends here have very nice cars as well. The fact that I do not post photos of our meets is related to the privacy these people want to keep. Unfortunately. surprise I had a lot of trouble because I posted a few photos a couple of years ago, won't go through that again. Lost the relationship to some good people... angry

There is also an open sportscar community over here in my region but most of the members are not exactly the people I usually want to spend my time with, if you get my drift. angry

Actually, I heard that 0-200 kph will be under 9 seconds...official claim.

I agree however, it won't be easy to keep up with turbo charged torque monsters, especially with the new 488 Speciale. Increased torque also means traction issues though. Drove a 991.2 Carrera S recently on wet pavement with winter tires and while on dry surface, traction was perfect...in the wet, no so much. Actually quite bad. Smiley

Back to the Performante: On the track, this car will be amazing due to the rear wheel steering and other improvements but of course the other manufacturers are not sleeping and will keep putting new models on the market which challenge everything new. So the Performante may be track kind for a couple of months but afterwards... Smiley Smiley

Unfortunately for me, the rear wheel steering is coming to the R8 facelift as well and I may actually switch to the facelift if Audi decides to keep the V10 engine and the same sound. Facelift for the R8 is due around mid 2018...if everything goes according to plans. A R8 GT (similar to Performante but with less visible aero) is in the pipeline as well but only if the Huracan Performante has the success Audi expects.

ABT will offer a mild engine power upgrade soon as well, should be shown in Geneva.  Rumored 30-40 hp on paper, a 0.5 seconds advantage from 0-200 kph and more than 1.5 seconds from 0-300 kph according to a source close to Daniel Abt. Factory warranty will very likely stay valid, even on leases. Smiley Not sure however if I will do it, I would prefer the facelift.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

I have very high expectations for the Performante based on:

    1) My experience with the mere 580-2 which showed me that it needs very little (yet technically challenging tweaks) to make it the perfect supercar for the street at least for me. The gap between the GT3 RS and the Turbo S / 488 is quite big in terms of "hardness" and emotions. I expect the Performante to be more civilized than the RS.

    2) From what I've heard Lamborghini worked really hard on this project. It's not just a body kit on a deeply flowed platform (the Aventador SV).

I am supposed to see the car in flesh in the next 2 weeks so I hope that I'll be able to share first impressions and info.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

Actually, I'm not a fan of the LP580-2, at all. The new AWD system in the Huracan is excellent and you can switch it from neutral to basically RWD feel/setup (at least this is the case with the R8 setups). No need for a RWD Huracan in my opinion but apparently Lamborghini wants to suggest that the RWD Huracan is faster and/or sportier on the track...which it isn't, despite the weight loss.

That's not why they have a RWD version. They made it RWD and less power because it's significantly cheaper.

Potential 488 vs LT video from Salmon

If any of you have seen that video that was posted up a while ago with salmon basically bashing the 488 that he was loaned, it seems he might be getting that 488 and doing a video of it vs the LT, just to discredit EVO and continue the "ferrari lies" rhetoric. They didn't get there in time to actually film it, so we'll have to wait and see if it actually happens. But if it does, I already know its going to lose because its fully loaded.

They also want to compare his MSO LT vs the regular LT

Smiley here goes that question again. All of my information comes from owners until i can actually buy one.  I really don't get any info from youtube except a few dyno numbers for personal comparison.  Thats why i don't speak from experience, and usually put a disclaimer, before i start getting questions like this oneSmiley

    Ferrari boasts record year

    Fri, 03 Feb 2017 11:50 AM

Italian luxury carmaker Ferrari said Thursday it had achieved record profits in 2016, bolstered by strong demand for its supercharged 488 sports cars, a fillip to the "prancing horse" firm as it prepares to turn 70.

The company announced better than expected net profits soared 38 percent to 400 million euros ($430 million), 110 million up on 2015 and outstripping analysts' forecasts of nearer 390 million, amid an 8.8 percent rise in sales to 3.1 billion euros.

Traders received the news well on the Milan bourse as the automaker's share price rose 3.73 percent to 59.75 euros -- an all-time closing high, prompting CEO Sergio Marchionne to salute "a good year" as he targeted production of 10,000 units for 2020-2025.

"We are satisfied with the progress we have made," said Marchionne, saluting a focus on keeping costs under control to bolster operating margin.

"This achievement was led by the success of both the 488 GTB and the 488 Spider," sports cars, the company said in a statement.

The results were Ferrari's first as a stand-alone company after it split from former parent company Fiat Chrysler and came as it posted shipments topping 8,000 vehicles -- an annual rise of 4.6 percent beyond the 7,700 figure for 2015.

Europe and the Middle East saw sales progress 7.7 percent although the rise was just one percent in China after Ferrari ended a partnership with a Hong Kong distributor in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (Ebitda) rose an annualised 17.6 percent to 880 million euros, ahead of a target of 850 million, while net debt fell to 653 million euros from 797 million.

    - 70th anniversary -

Ferrari is targeting sales topping 3.3 billion euros in 2017 with debt levels ramped down still further to around 500 million euros, according to the "prudent" hopes of Marchionne, who rejected chasing "unrealistic targets."

He added he wanted the group to remain faithful to its image as a luxury sports car maker, to maintain the purity of the brand.

While seeking to broaden the base of the producer's clientele, Marchionne said he was not targeting a "huge tribe, but a manageable tribe," of customers to ensure that Ferrari could surpass 10,000 annual sales "without disrupting the DNA of the brand."

Ferraris are priced from around 200,000 to 450,000 euros.

The group was founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1947, and hence will this year celebrate its 70th anniversary.

Regarding Formula One racing, Marchionne said Ferrari had begun "exploring the opportunity of acquiring a participation" and had held talks on the subject with new owner Liberty Media.

US-based Liberty Media recently completed its takeover of motorsport's most prestigious brand in a deal valued at about $8 billion.

But Marchionne urged caution given that a Formula One  revenue-sharing accord between team owners expires in three years time.
