Ceramic coating of headers is a common aftermarket process, so why not ceramic coated exhaust systems to mitigate heat?
Porsche hinting of a 0-60mph time lower than 4 seconds might give the TT a 0-100mph time of 7 something. Thats progress!
Yep,
Aftermarket exhausts will become available-of course, it will be incumbent on the makers to demo. that the materials won't melt under all that heat.
So buyer beware.
And the heat issue will also jack up the price of those exhausts, as well. Just my opinion-I like the 997TT tail and don't mind the pics we've seen of the exhaust-and at least there's only one horizontal strake on the side intakes-looks like they co-opted the Techart design, though. I'm just crossing my fingers on wheel options.
0-60mph hopefully will broach sub-3.5, I bet 0-100mph will be 7.5-8.0, also brisk, CGT-range.
But hey, the party line on this forum seems to be that 0-60 times are "meaningless," just a number for tire tread engineers and Ricers.
Well, I'll see if my 996TSCab post-mods. goes 0-60 and 0-100 and quarter mile faster than pre-mods: Same vehicle, just different headers, exhaust, hoses, blow-off valves and airbox, with the engine flashed and the max. boost bumped up on the K24's-when I GPS it this spring. Same kerb weight, same tires, same road and conditions.
