It is interesting reading on Ferrari chat all of the comments from new 430 owners who had 996TT's and 997"s and now say how much more they enjoy the 430 over the Porsches they use to have . The wait the extra money all make it a difficult transition but it seems that owning and driving a 430 really is the next step up . Again to have both I think would be the idea situation as they are really two different cars .

I really like the F430. Delivery time is now march 07, at least in Germany.So I looked for the Gallardo and was really impressed. It is like sitting in a fighter jetplane. I am not sure if this is a car for everyday driving like a Porsche is.I will also be looking for the Audi R 9. I hope Audi will show it in Geneva.

For me it is the other way around
I enjoy my TT very much - following the Ferrari experience
Recently I have been thinking that a classic Ferrari (Daytona, 512BB, 275GTB - 250GT SWB is probably a bit too expensive) might form the perfect sports car combo with a new 997TTS? The historical Ferraris do not have the ambition to be top performing sports cars but represent nothing but style and elegance.
The problem with F430 et al is: they are not as fast and efficient as a Porsche turbo. However, their appearance sets that expectation... I am afraid that I cannot stand the gap between expectation and reality any longer

My dream-car-plan (in purchase order):
1) Porsche 997C2S Cab [check!]
2) Upgrade my Audi S3 to an RS6 Avant (more practical for kids & dogs)
3) Ferrari F430 or Lamborghini Gallardo (or both!)
4) Mercedes SLR (mainly for that noise!)
Would also love an Aston at some point but not for about 15-20 years. Pure 'hyper-cars' such as the Carrera GT/Zonda/Enzo are a little too 'intense' for me on public roads.
Right, better get back to work to earn some more money I think!!

I've discovered that you can't even get on a list unless you buy a couple of Maseratis or used Ferraris from that particular dealership first. It's quite a business model, and I still am not sure how it works!

Another Porsche. I love the F430, but would not own one for two reasons: 1- My kids are only 9 and 11, and I am not ready to stop hearing the giggles when the top is down on a beautiful summer day, and 2- Although I would surely appreciate the craftsmanship and performance of the Ferrari, I would feel like I was in a fishbowl everywhere I went. Pulling up to Starbucks just wouldn't be the same, too glam for me, thats just imho.
