I think this car is a nice design departure for Mercedes. I regard it as quite attractive. The front 3/4 view reminds me of the Bentley Continental GT's proportions from the A-pillar to the back, which I find very pleasing.
The side view with the driver visible shows how BIG this car is. It will be very instructive to see the CLS in person, so as to get a perspective of shape vs. scale.
The new variety of up-market cars are starting to be a lot of fun to look at just now.

According to dictionary.com (I tried cutting and pasting from the Oxford English dictionary, but now I have paste all over my screen)...
1) A closed automobile having two or four doors and a front and rear seat.
2) A portable enclosed chair for one person, having poles in the front and rear and carried by two other people. Also called sedan chair.
I think the poles must be in the trunk.

I looked "sedan" up myself, very suprised! The BMW 6 series is the best looking sedan in exsistence!!! J/K 
If you think about it the CLS is exactly what it is, a coupe and sedan rolled into one. A "coudan". It has all the exterior and interior proportions of a coupe, but it has four doors. This car is starting to grow on me, and for those of you that are married the CLS would be an excellent second choice fo a second car if your wife says that coupe has got to go to make room for the kid/s.
