    Back in business

Finally after years without a Porsche (expatriation + other priorities upon return home) I just bought this 997 C4.

It is a 07 model with 70'000km. Not a scratch, amazing conditions...and it has PSE which for me is THE option you need on a week-end cruiser like this one will be for me :-)

Drives beautifully...after looking at few other cars, I put the money on this one, I am so happy :-)

It is actually amazing to see the price for the cars. 997s are such good value in my opinion at the moment...

    Re: Back in business

Looks great. Best way to start the new year. Enjoy 2017. Is it a manual?

    Re: Back in business

    thanks you too!

    Yes of course manual :-)
It has PASM, BOSE, Sunroof on top so all welcome additions...
Feels funny I had a 997 back when it was just released...and now to sit again in one with the 'antique' PCM system...ahaha those things don't age well....

Very nice, and sounds like you got a good deal. Congrats. wink

    Re: Back in business

Great buy ! The car looks good. And , yes , the only draw back is the ancient PCM !

    Enjoy.

The 3.6 littre engine is a peach, undervalued IMO compared with the S variants.

    Congrats Jeannot!wink

Remember that on the 997 MK-I with PSE you can unplug the solenoid of the vacuum tubes that open/close the valves of the sport exhaust and make the sport exhaust be on the entire time (and not turn off between certain speeds which is very annoying though I understand they did this to allow it to pass noise tests). Its the orange clip in the engine bay, 3 second job.

    Thanks all!

@Carlos: Oh yeah I do remember that I had this on my 997C2S which was modified by Porche themselves with a little button inside the glove box. This time, I bought this little device to make it even easier, anybody any experience? It was cheap enough to give it a try:

    Re: Back in business

Perfect, that should work just the same except that with that device you can also switch the PSE valves vacuum system on and off by simply using that remote button, and not have to open the engine lid and manually connecting/disconneting the solenoidd switch kiss

    Re: Back in business

Yup that is the plan, sounds a bit too good to be true but why not...

Anyway the 3.6 seems to be singing just as well as the 3.8 from what I heard during my test drive...oh man that felt good  smiley

Too bad the car has Pilot Sport and the road was very slippery (sub zero)...

Anyway, the PSE+sunroof+tunnel combination will work well :-)

...and I found a set of 19" Porsche wheels ("lobster" wheel from a S) in black with snow tires on for 750Euros...what a steal...

so I get to enjoy it soon :-)

    Re: Back in business

Very nice. Got me surfing around Autoscout now indecision

I'd ve tempted to swap out the PCM head unit for something modern - they can plug and play and look factory, and no damage done so you can return to original if desired.

I knew people do it, but don't know much about i, although been reading up a bit now. Bose makes it a bit harder but there are wiring adapters available. Turns out Porsche even manufactured a double DIN fascia plate for the Japanese market. There's plenty on e.g. Ebay, too. Bluelines did a swap on his Boxster once - sounded great.

    Re: Back in business

Congratulation Jeannot. Sounds like a nice exemple  Smiley

I went through the same ordeal and I ended up with a 435i gran coupe. I need the space for my 18 months old son and I just could not afford at that point a 997 + an adequate DD. I think next time I get a new car, I will just keep the 435i & add a 911 of some sort. The wait is the hardest part...

Very clean and classic car...if I think about it, ...if I had kept my 997 I would have only upgraded the audio system to allow bluetooth enter this keeper by now...so, enjoy !
