    Black dials - comparison pics?

    Hey Guys, Does anyone have images of normal dials vs. the black dials. Also, I assume its easy to retrofit.

    Nope, this isn't an easy retrofit I'm afraid. And it isn't cheap either.

    I got some but I dunno how to post pics. But when viewing them side by side - I really do prefer black dials. It's tradition.

    I also like the black dials much more but I had no choice on my 997 Carrera S.
    If you don't know how to post pictures, send them to rc@rennteam.com and I'll post them for you. I can even resize them, no need to do anything to them. Thanks.

    IMHO black looks like the "business end" of something special. White has kind of a "hot hatch' look. Just my .02.

    My car should be on Vessel next week and I was just saying to a friend online that is the only thing I regret not doing getting the black dials. Free option here in the states also. But too late now, stuck with the white.

    I just spent the whole day today at my local dealer. Saw both black and aluminium dials close up. I have preferred black dials for AGES but that was only based on seeing the photos. I was so wrong! When I saw them for real, I MUCH prefer the aluminium dials. They aren't white at all. They're a silvery colour. Honestly, don't judge it from the photos. See it with your own eyes!

    My C2S has black dials

    the aluminum dials looked too Deuce for me. If I had wanted aluminum dials I would have bought a 300C.

    Its a matter of taste, I personally prefer the aluminum dials over black.

    What easy_rider911 said. I also didn't like them from the pics but I actually preferred them after seeing them in person. With a black interior the silver dials provide a nice contrast.

    Seem to me it depends on the color of the car and the interior . On a black car with black interior it seems black would look the best , there is nothing else white in the car .

    Black is by far the best.....white is so "boy racer".

    and at night the black dials look great (IMHO).
    i have changed to black, since it fits better to the cocoa interiuer.

    I like the aluminum in all black interior...it provides a nice contrast. IF I had black dials with a black interior, I don't know - it would just seem too ... black?

    I had the Alu dials on my 996 for three years (like the 997S) and it was fine if not a but tacky, but nothing terrible, you get used to it.
    With the 997, it was nice to go for something different, and Zzoba made it quite clear that he would no longer be my friend if I kept the standard Alu dials.
    Friendship is more important to me than a dial's color, especially when it's free!
    Plus, I do prefer black, classier, especially with black interior, the white chrono toy in the middle of the dash must be quite "in your face"! in a dark interior

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought black dials are standard on the 997 non-S and white dials are standard on the 997S.

    I personally prefer the white ones that came with my S.

    The dials are light silver in color and they blend in very nicely with the alum. trim surrounding the A/C vents and the other alum. dashboard trim. I originally wanted black dials in my 997 S until I saw the silver dials in person.

    Too bad you ain't gonna get this drama with black dials.
    BTW, I saw a sets of colored dials for sale in Excellence ads. They were about us$500. Since I removed the instrument cluster from my 986s in about five minutes (a few years ago) I'm guessing the change out (retrofit) for the 997 will be just as easy.

    I remember the black of the 997 guages is not really a rich black. More like darkest grey.

    IMO opinion it depends on your exterior/interior colors. True on older cars black was all that was available unless you went for the "colored" dials. I have a triple black car on order, and actually wanted the no cost standard alum. look dials to break up the all black, and also go with the aluminum trim items in the car.

    My big objection

    I can't stand the idea of seeing "The Wart" staring out at me in white or silver - too much of a distraction. Better to hide it with a black dial and forgo the silver dials which still look too ricer anyway IMNSHO
