    997 Turbo - Final Spec.

    Calm down

Even if the new Turbo only has 460 HP and 640 Nm i'm quite sure that 90% of all the guys who originally intended to buy the 997 Turbo will still go ahead with it.

Re: 997 Turbo - Final Spec.

    CF,

You don't wanna be responsible for my heart attach do you?

    Catchy title though.

So I take it the 460hp is final and as much as it may out perform the competition, as RC said, it'll be a marketing suicide .

Re: 997 Turbo - Final Spec.

460 will not be by NO MEANS. I SWEAR ABOUT THAT.
the less is 480hp. I speak with porsche dealer all the time...

    CF,

What do you mean by "Even if. . . ?" Do you know something we don't know?

If the new 997 Turbo gets less than 480 HP, I change my order to a GT3. Period.

Re: 997 Turbo - Final Spec.

If it gets less than 480HP, I WILL buy a Gallardo in stead, no doubt about it!

Re: 997 Turbo - Final Spec.

    RC

what is all this "IF" talk about 460 hp
    I thought the range was 480 hp (MIN) - 508 hp(MAX), most likely 480-490hp
last 2 days way too much 460 hp talk

One way for sure to make us fell better about 480hp is to make everyone think 460hp is the real number. lets hope NOT!!

Re: 997 Turbo - Final Spec.

I don't believe porsche will market the car for 150k... that is too much (the old one was 120ish... ). Honestly, many people that can afford a 997TT would be feeling their oats and think to themselves--- 997tt-150k... or used FERRARI 150k..... (I would go with a slightly used 360)... a 360 will always be a show stopper.

Re: 997 Turbo - Final Spec.

I don't think the car will be 150k, I think msrp under 130k.Hope porsche doesn't play the game off full leather 3,100 extra for the turbo. on the 996 turbo's and c4 full leather was STD, this is a stealh was of raising the msrp another $3100. I hope not. IMO a used 360 doesn't do it for me compared to my 996tt.

Re: 997 Turbo - Final Spec.

They cant and wont increase the base price by more than 10 percent. I am sure their market analysis says that they will lose a faithful set of buyers if they do. So this means somewhere around 130. They also know that they have to at least be at the X51 HP base so this means 450 Plus to show that the new technology added HP/Torque without a huge incremental cost. Then they need to compete with the M5 boys and F430 Boys on sheer numbers. So I think $130 Base price and 460 to 480HP. And I am buying one either way!

If the 997baseTT is 460HP, I'll await the TTS and tune my 996TTS to 600HP. Even with VTG's and gobs of low-rev torque on the 997TT, I think I'll need a GPS to tell the performance difference versus a tuned 996TTS-and maybe the latter would be faster anyhow. . . .

Re: 997 Turbo - Final Spec.

MMMMMMMMhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,in Italy is 6 AM o'clock now ,CF i can kill you!!!!

If the turbo has less than 480 HP i rechange the preorder to the 997 Gt3

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

my delaer kill me..and all live in peace..

    ciaoo

Re: 997 Turbo - Final Spec.

The 997TT's handling versus a 996TT will be at least as good, or even better, than the difference between a 997 and a 996.

Porsche handling improves substantially with every generation. Just look how close lap times are now between a 997S and a 996GT3.

The new 997TT will likely be as fast as a 996GT2 but with higher cornering speeds and quicker at reaching its V max.

If that "evolution" isn't good enough, then tell me what the hell other car has that combination of speed, endurance and daily useability!

    excellent point!

might opt for some tuning as well, would not be same as a 997tt but very much cheaper... for 25k one would get the same performance levels and still have porsche handling, although not the refinement of the 997tt. anyway, still a long time til then. I'll wait for the tests and specs of all of these cars (gt3 and tt) before doing anything, so let's just enjoy the discussion and the 'what ifs'..

a great weekend to you all

Re: 997 Turbo - Final Spec.

my serious info for the price tels me there will be a 7% price increase over the 996tt . as for 460 hp ,yes ,i am hearing that too much also... i hate this suspense...

I was never talking about 460 HP.
BTW: I think CF just used this strategy to make people back off from their pre-orders, so he can get a car more easily. But on the other hand, I suppose he gets one of the first Turbo anyway.

    Yes, RC, perhaps.

Or maybe, like counter-intelligence, P marketing is intentionally sending out rumours of under-powering ("low-balling" as we would call it), to make official specs. look positive-for example, "we were expecting only 460 HP but we really got 480 (or 490 or 508)." At least that's what I hope is happening. . . .

And yes, Jim, good point, the 997NA is an advance over the 996NA in chassis/suspension/handling, so a 997TT should be a similar advance over the 996TT. Plus the VTG technology (?and others), not part of the 996TT, could significantly impact the 997TT power and torque curves. But I still believe that the same 997TT with 508 peak HP and torque would be faster than that 997TT but with less peak HP and torque, if their power and torque curves were of similar shape. Why I was trying to say on another thread that a 997TT with faster straightline 0-whatever times would be faster than the 997TT (with identical weight, layout, chassis, suspension, handling, gearing, brakes, tires and traction) with slower straightline times, again assuming the car was tuned-by ECU tweaks-with similar shaped power and torque curves, even though a totally different car (like a front-engined SL65AMG with huge displacement and tons more torque, HP-and weight, but inferior traction) might have inferior 0-whatever launch times in the dry (and inferior 'Ring times), but more competitive straightline times from a roll, as well as quarter trap speed times.

Neah. The only effect it might have is what RC said, lots of cancelled orders. However, 460 isn't inconcievable considering another 20hp wouldn't make any noticable difference, but, 60-70 hp would. Meaning, the turbo S with 520-530 would see a performance improvement as to justify its inevitable and lofty premium over the standard Turbo.
