Re: 0-100 in 3.7 997 tt with pdk
Naw, exhaust and headers are easy to spot, and NOBODY goes to the trouble of switching cams on a new car, while leaving everything else stock. You wouldn't gain anything from that. Cam swaps in those cars only pay dividends with heads and intake.
Up at Gainesville Raceway, just about everybody watches the races from the staging lanes, so you're right down there with the cars, with the hoods up, cooling off for the next round. The couple C6 owners that I ever did engage in conversation (this was like, last spring, right after I took delivery of my 997S, but it had too few miles to go making any passes in...) were basically out with the cars for their first time since purchasing them, baselining them. They had plans for better flowing air filter lids and cat-back exhausts, cheesy and ineffective stuff like that, but the two fellas I chatted with were running bone stockers at the time.
I don't understand your skepticism, considering the times that I've seen at the track are consistent with all the U.S. magazines, and not any considerably different than published times for the 997S (except trap speed maybe). What is it about the Corvette, other than one single Sport Auto test, that makes you think it's gotta be slow?? Hell, C5 Z06's were turning bone-stock 12.60-12.80 times up at Gainesville raceway when they were new several years ago, there's no reason for the C6 to perform any worse.
Maybe Chevy de-tunes the Euro-spec 'Vettes.
