    Insurance time... Feck!

Insurance time again and was wondering if anyone has any good suggestions. Had a quote so far for a Pounds1000 which is fine but I'd like to get insurance that will also cover me for track days...

Remember reading somewhere that some insurers will allow you to complete a number of track days a year... This would be perfect for me as I'd like to get some more track days in next year and dont want to pay Pounds200 for insurance each time...

    Re: Insurance time... Feck!

Try Porsche Insurance. I got a good quote from them, and they cover all the factory fitted options! If I recall correctly, they offer track day cover for a nominal sum - but with a Pounds5000 excess.

    Re: Insurance time... Feck!

Porsche Club GB isnurance includes cover for their track days. Its reasonably priced but I'm not sure on the excess. Also, some companies are now offering day insurance for track use, which means you can get standard (and reasonable) cover for your annual road use.

    Re: Insurance time... Feck!

Tried Porsche last year and they were about Pounds3000 or so... I only have 1 years no-claims all because I did not have car insurance for 3 years!!!! bast@rds!

    Re: Insurance time... Feck!

My best quote was Liverpool Victoria. Also try First Alternative?

    Re: Insurance time... Feck!

Try Bell.co.uk if you decide not to bother with the track element - cheapest by a long shot for my 997, Pounds770 inc business mileage, wife under 30, etc. Most companies were closer to double.

Not sure of the exact name but somebody like Herts Insurance were offering track cover "included" in the price. I saw this is GT magazine some months ago - I may still have the copy if you would like me to dig out details.

The advantage of being old! Porsche quoted me Pounds620, Pounds250xs. Car garaged, with Tracker, no business use 9,000 miles / year. Self and SWMBO. Full no claims and clean licence. Me 50 SWMBO

    Re: Insurance time... Feck!

Pounds750 from Mini Cover. Been with them two years and they add "free year discount" on top!!

987 2.7 Up to Pounds40k 6000 miles pa! Garaged. Tracker

    Re: Insurance time... Feck!

Pounds716 from Adrian Flux!!!!!!! Best so far!

    Re: Insurance time... Feck!

Pounds716 is pretty good. Do both these insurers require a tracker of some sort??? My current company did'nt so I have not had one fitted...

    Re: Insurance time... Feck!

    Rich,

Why is Pounds716 'pretty good'? I suspect that you don't know what cover Steve required, where he lives, what his claim record etc is etc! My premium is less than Pounds716 - but without telling you all of my personal details etc, you can't make comparisons. Likewise, cheap insurance often means less cover and more restrictions! However, I can assure you that a clean licence, age approaching 50, living in Lincolnshire, car garaged, no track days etc helps; but Porsche Insurance also covers my car to an agreed value and includes all the factory fitted options.

Do they cover track days? That's a decent quote in my eyes since I was in a similar situation as you when I got my first Porsche, the 987S - mid 30ish and without traceable no-claims bonus due to having recently moved from overseas. I might want to knock on their door when my insurance is up for renewal.

Right now I'm with Admiral to rack up the no claims bonus.

    Re: Insurance time... Feck!

I'm with admiral as well at the moe, doing the 10 month accelerator, again to get my ncb up.

There qoute isnt too ba, just wanted to see if I could get a quote that includes Trackdays

    Re: Insurance time... Feck!

    Rich,

Worth checking with other insurers to ascertain if they will accept NCD gained through the accelerator process. I've heard that some won't honour discount earned that way.

    Really! Cheeky b*sPounds$%*Pounds!!!!!!

Insurance companies are some of the worst money grabbing scum... (Sorry I could rant for hours... not the place!).

Thanks for the tip. Currently down to a Pounds1070 with Bell, who offer their own accelerator so will hopefully honer mine. Would like to drop it to under Pounds1k, even if its Pounds999, that whole mental barrior... under Pounds1k I dont feel like I'm getting shafted so much!

They have PCGB track day cover I believe but it would be Pounds1000 for that. I actually stuck with Mini Cover (UK Insurance at Pounds810) as they have been really good when I've needed a loan car to be covered and were great when I went abroad. I might change next year though.

    Re: Insurance time... Feck!

Hi Steve, do you have a web link for mini cover?? Did a google and could not find anything, would like to give them a try...

    Cheers

    Re: Insurance time... Feck!

Just read that sorry took a while - number is 0870 024 0055 - Mini Cover - UK Insurance Ltd.

They are pretty good, give you a bonus year NCD when I joined and have always been very helpful.

    Just renewed with them.
