    Anyone experiencing trouble with starting after stalling?

    When I stall the engine, i have to take the key from the slot, i have to activate the alarm (open and close the doors with the remote of the key) , put the key into place, and then i can restart the engine.DANGEREOUS!!!

    My son stalled on the tramway last month (his first time he ought to drive the car...) And we were lucky the tram had to stop at his stopplace (just before the crossing)... otherwise it wouldn't hvae been a nice experience..;

    Does anyone has this prob? At my dealer's, my car is the onlyone which has this problem.
    It's now at the dealership to have it solved.But they don't know yet what causes the problem.

    Are you sure you're pressing the clutch pedal when trying to start the engine? Otherwise, there is definetely something wrong (resetting the whole system may be wise).

    Yes, no problem, i'm aware off that!
    In the 14k km's i drove it , it happened a few times only, but always at an embarassing moment: -in italy while making a u-turn inthe mountains (a lorry was approaching)
    - in front of a lot off people (driving cabrio) at a pedestrian crossing (with lots of people on the sidewalk) ... I felt so stupid in my shiny porsche , i'd wished my hood had been closed at that time...

    You should only have to turn the ignition key to off and then back to the start position. Something is wrong if you have to remove the key in order to restart.

    Have you tried this?
    Before you pull the key from the ignition, turn it all the way counterclockwise and then turn it back clockwise and it should start.

    I have had this problem in my 987 - After stall it won't restart for 15 seconds(ish). Won't even try to turn over. Don't have to take the key out, just turn it completely counter-clockwise (off) first. And wait. And swear.

    2006 c4s - mine does it as well. Have to take the key all the way out, kind of like rebooting a windows machine. It is actually kind of dangerous.....

    eh.... that's a problem if you have to take the key out. I only stalled the car 3 times so far, all 3 times:

    Turn key all the way left, clutch in, start engine.

    I suggest you give your dealer a call. Shouldn't have to take out the key. I'm not sure what that would do anyway.

    I tried all the above, but only removing the key and putting it back into place brings the solution.
    Anyway, they are finaly trying to resolve the problem after only 8 months... service

    STALLING IS WHEN THE CAR ENGINE STOPS WHEN IN GEAR?

    i had this several times and the car does not start...

    this can happen...

    1) while driving very slowly with a gear in
    2) while moving on downhill very very slowly while unparking with reverse gear in......when you release the clutch the reverse gear akes the car engine stop when moving downhill...


    i hope you make out sense from my writtings..

    this happenned to me also once, in the tram rails!!
    i was lucky...

    TO RESTART THE ENGINE YOU NEED TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL HARD ON BETWEEN 3500- 4000 RPM ....... to feed gas in the engine and make it start again...

    it hapenned to me when i had the car for 1 week only , brand new this is, and i did not know what to do so i called ,the on-road assistance..


    This trick with pressing the gas pedal hard was said to me by the guy in the road assistance...

    and when i got to the service they told me this happens to prevent the engine from damages, so the car does not let ignition to take place,...thats why you need to press the gas hard...
    i know its pretty annoying...

    Yes, this is the problem i'm referring at.

    But how can you press the pedal hard to 3500-4000rpm when the engine does'nt run... that's a part i don't understand.
    BTW, the car is nosw at the dealership already the whole week, they called this evening to tell the problem isn't solved yet. The car has to remain there several days more.
    They are going to replace several "steering"units (don't know the english terms) , computers?? in the hope the problem will be solved

    If you've got to take out the key and turn on alarm, sounds to me like the engine demobiliser is defective and engaging when it shouldn't. Turning on the alarm and then turning it off will reset the demobiliser.

    I experienced similar restart problem (once or twice) as well. I had to give some extra throttle (gas) as I restarts the car.

    Well that sounds like the classic cure for the engine being flooded.

    You guys are applying old carburetor logic to a fuel-injected electronically-controlled throttle car. I'm fairly positive that the start-up is controlled ENTIRELY by the PCM, and nothing that you do with your gas pedal is being relayed to the throttle body while the starter is engaged, and the PCM is in it's start-up loop. The PCM is controlling the throttle up to the point the car fires and the ignition switches to "on"

    Aaah, That'll be it. Perhaps it got confused, and thought the car wasn't where it was supposed to be - fell off the map or something - and refused to start.

    I haven't got PCM, so mine's less trouble.

    I know. That's why I said sounds like immobiliser to me. My comment on flooring the throttle that someone else made was that that was the old cure for a flooded engine, NOT your problem. Hope it gets fixed
