    225km/h max speed? A Golf will be faster than that

    And the weight figure (995kgs) looks like BS to me. The Elise is much heavier than that, and it's very far from being a GT car.

    No, a US Elise is lighter than that (alot lighter in Europe - less than 800kg)

    I was under the impression that the Mk2 Elise was around 1100kgs. I was wrong

    Everyone on Elisetalk seems to be very disappointed as well. Can't say I see it selling very well with those looks.

    This may have been a Proton idea?

    The Elise is 1984 pounds according to their website. That would be around 900kg.

    There is some speculation that this car was originally supposed to be the Proton version of the Elise, and Proton has since scrapped the idea, giving Lotus the chance to sell a few hundred units.

    No idea if this is true or not.

    100% true, the mk1 Elise were very light(approx 790kg) but the mk2 are between 860-920kg, btw there are not much weight differences between the european and us versions now

    Very very ugly!!!! Was looking forward to this... but..... dear oh dear!!!

    Must have been more proton than Lotus on this as the car looks like a cheap MR2 / Supra / Celica type thing!

    Agreed! Nothing like the original, that's for sure! The original Europa is one of my favorite designs of all time.
