    Impressive, close to the redline too! Not that many cars rev that high near their top end.

    Looks likes about 340 kph (210 mph)...level or downhill? I didn't think the M6 was a 200+ mph car on level road.

    Should be roughly "real" 320 kph. For example AC Schnitzer claims that kind of top speed for a completely delimited car.

    There are two "official" versions of the BMW M6:
    One is limited to 250 kph, the other one is limited to 305 kph. The sports package with the 305 kph limit has to be ordered as an extra option, it costs around 2500 Euro in Germany (I have to look up the precise price tag) and also includes a driver's ed training course (which is NOT mandatory, it can be skipped but it costs still the same).

    Forgot to mention: the "sports package" with the new 305 kph speed limit is available for the M5 too. At the same time, the kickdown function of the SMG in the M5 has been "deleted", it isn't available anymore on new cars.

    200MPHish on any road in a Bimmer would be scary/moronic w/those famously inept BMW brakes.....

    Wonder why BMW can't offer semi-competent ceramics from Brembo (or whoever builds P/F brakes) as a $10K option.....is BMW's buyer base that cash poor????

    I think $10k optional brakes is a tough choice for many buyers period. What would be wrong with offering some nice Steel Brembos?

    Fair point. Seems that BMW's engineers have clearly shown they've never been able to engineer competent brakes....perhaps buying steel brakes from Brembo/elsewhere is too much of a public admission of this incompetence?

    Also seems silly to fixate on top speed if BMW's building an alleged GT car w/a 3-series-sized ?18gall-ish fuel tank and about 8MPG (esp at 80MPH+)...overly frequent fuel stops easily defeat value of high-speed cruising capabilities....so I guess fuel tank cap/range calcs are also outside BMW engineering competence...sounds like marketers outnumber competent engineers at BMW...

    From the same black M6:

    Video of the top speed (329km/h on GPS) on portuguese A1 highway..... according to the owner the motor have some more revs. They couldn't go further because there was traffic ahead.

    At least in US, BMW's buyer base is prob cash-constrained (thus BMW prices comparable models sub-Merc and stays out of the $100K+ league)...and most of relevant US (ex-SF and LA) is lacking in mtn twisties and high-speed fwys to easily reveal fade-prone brakes....

    I'm stunned anyone in places like Munich would bet their life on M5/6 brakes in routine 100MPH+ driving.....
