The Cayenne in Big Bend National Park (again)

I posted some photos here about 45 days ago chronicling my trip to Big Bend National Park. I also submitted two of those photos and a story to our local Porsche club newsletter. They have now been published and are available online in pdf format.

looks like a lot of fun and that normal tires been used - no probs with them?

I have actually now the 235`s Dunlop winter tires and got a complete other car with this tires! ride is so smooth and soft now :-) and the cars looks like sh... with them but they really comes better with my steel suspension. and steering is much easier than before.

the 20" are a pain in the ass on a steel S and i don`t put them on again even if the techno`s are nice.
i will go for the 19" in spring. don`t understand that guys can go for 22" tech art`s - maybe a reason that a couple of this rims are now offered used for cheap :-)

No, no problems. I did a lot of worrying about that though. When your 20 miles from a paved road you start to think about those things. These are the 255/55 18" Continental Contact M&S tires. I wanted the Pirelli Scorpion A/T 235/60 18" but they were just not available. I actually have a little more confidence in the Continentals now so I may leave them on. They are rated to 150 mph where the Pirellis would only be good to 118. I don't often drive that fast but sometimes I do. When I am on an open deserted road I have found the Cayenne cruises very comfortably at 130, even when the road is less then perfect.

That is too funny!

28" wheels on the Cayenne with tires that are 29" leaves you with a 1" sidewall! Probably not the wheel to use for off-roading.
