    Cayman impressions

    Saw my first Cayman in real this weekend.
    Front is ok, like a tuned Boxster, rear is a work of art, superb!
    The sister loved it, maybe in a year, we'll have a new addition to the family!
    Rear three quarter, definitely the best view.

    I saw 3 Caymans at a dealership yesterday. To me the car is very colour sensitive and I agree with other posters that it somehow looks smaller than a Boxster (in the showroom at least) due to the roofline. There was a nicely spec'ed car on display in artic silver with black leather, sports seats, nav, 19" sport design alloys etc etc. The price - Pounds51k I have to say that this just seems way too much money for this type of car IMHO.

    There were plenty of Caymans at the launch on Friday and all were over Pounds50k. That sobered me up, despite the free champagne.

    Price shouldn't be a mystery or surprise to anyone. Just spec one out with the price list.

    The price wasn't a mystery as it was known in advance but how does the equivalent of $87,000 USD grab you? That's the UK price for one of these cars with a reasonable spec. There is no way it's worth that when you see it in a showroom

    I agree $87K is steep, though are other cars similarly more expensive in the UK or was it the option list? Mine is $70K nicely loaded in the U.S.

    The UK list price starts at $74,000 USD for the Cayman S. A 997 Carrera S starts at $113,300 USD. You guys just don't know how lucky you are being able to buy Porsches so cheaply in the US.

    I second that , a US base 997 price is around the same as I paid for my Landcruiser , its incredible..

    NOT FAIR .

    Why don't you ask Dr Phil what one would cost in Denmark, if you think it's expensive in the UK!

    The price over here is approx. USD124,102, similar price to SLK55.

    I did ask him quite a while back and he has kindly supplied me with a Danish price list. A friend of mine is about to buy a RHD Boxster from a Danish dealer as a personal import and will save 10% on the UK price after all taxes are paid. The poor Danes do get stung by a very high luxury tax but I've yet to meet a poor Dane I have to say

    Or the price in Portugal.

    My Boxster S with PCM, full leather, 18", Parking sensors, and a few more small options costs over $107.000 US (91.000 euros)!
