Colored PCM switch panel. How'd they do that?

How'd that PCM switch panel get Terracotta?

Can we order one that's the same color as the switches yet?

Re: Colored PCM switch panel. How'd they do that?

Looks like the original PCM panel has been removed - and an aftermarket Shell has been retrofitted. Seems like a pretty simple job for any specialist tuner....

The PCM bezel is covered in leather

The panel is actually covered in leather. It is quite a skill in making a skin thin enough to lie down on something like the PCM bezel. I have seen turn signal stalks and all sorts of plastic parts covered in hide. Looks great, wears terrible!

For a price you can have anything on the car covered in leather.

Re: Colored PCM switch panel. How'd they do that?

Porsche price options on things like this are just ridicules. I do not see that option in leather I think it is 2K just to paint it .

Re: Colored PCM switch panel. How'd they do that?

Or willing to pay for it. That's a lot of money for paint.

In Germany, you can get the PCM and other "silver" parts painted in black or at special demand, in any other color. You can also have the parts covered in leather in any available interior leather color. The black painted stuff is actually the cheapest solution, all the painted leather stuff is pretty expensive. All available from Exclusive department, it varies from country to country. Just talk to your friendly Porsche dealer, he might be able to help.

I don't recommend having the stuff painted yourself. The "silver(grey?)" plastic parts require a special treatment before painting and the paint should be adapted to the material, not to wear off to fast or to even crack.
I'm pretty sure that a specialized shop could do that right, just don't do a cheap job because it'll show after a short while.

Re: Colored PCM switch panel. How'd they do that?

Here's an example of a painted PCM switch panel in exterior color (black).

Re: Colored PCM switch panel. How'd they do that?

Is this the Cayman S interior or Carrera interior? The air vent seems a little awkward for carrera ? Please don't tell me they change the interior!~

Re: Colored PCM switch panel. How'd they do that?

This is the Cayman interior. They have not changed the Carrera

Thanks a million RC. Looks kinda cool.

You're right: make sure the paint job is done by a pro to specs. DIY work would be a mistake.

Re: Colored PCM switch panel. How'd they do that?

Not worth it, it will not last 2 months, it will stain and it will tear. It does look nice though, just don't touch it and look at it only LOL

It will not stain and it will not tear...unless you're using the dish washing sponge with that rough side on it.

Re: Colored PCM switch panel. How'd they do that?

This one is in Speed Yellow.

Re: Colored PCM switch panel. How'd they do that?

$2,230.00 USD? How much is that per square millimeter of painted surface?

It has to be a record price for a Porsche option that costs
so little to make but is priced so high.

I salute them for having the nerve to ask that much!

The cars perform in more ways than anyone stops to think about.

Merry Xmas to the Porsche options Guru, whoever he
    is!

They have to tape all around that strip before painting it so it takes a lot of labor .

But on a serious note there are other parts of interior in exterior color that is not shown in the picture; such as, center console, rear htach triming and some other stuff that I can't remember.
