    924, 944, 928, newer 911 Targas and the Cayenne all have hatches.

    Deutsche Welle TV has made an attempt towards me to host a 911 story for their international program. I refused last year because I want to avoid going public with my private life (would have been unavoidable). But sometimes I wonder if that has been the right decision, I still think that such reports should be done by enthusiasts and owners.

    I'm afraid I didn't change my mind, although I regret not doing it. Whenever the press is involved, it draws too much attention and curiousity, I really don't need and want that with two little kids and a healthy business. I don't want my customers to point with the finger towards me, saying that I care more about cars than about my business (which wouldn't be true). I don't think all of my customers would be happy to know that I'm driving a 911, they already give me a hard time with the Cayenne and most of them don't even know WHAT Cayenne it is. No thanks.

    If they came to you, and they really like you, and if you remind them just how important the Porsche story is around the world, and also the programs other markets licensing opportunities in non german speaking television markets for cable, broadcast and dvd sales..(your english is fine!)

    Maybe you should suggest to them that the story can be best told with 10-12 one hour episodes, and that you are willing to do that in exchange for ... standard rate, plus X% of the advertising revenue, X% of foreign licensing sales and DVD license sales domestic and international, plus some up front money for development, and a no cut minimum in case the show is canceled in Germany. I doubt if you would get "library" rights where you obtain ownership of the program after several years of broadcast sales, but you never know!

    If you can present the show in English, you might have some pretty good foreign cable and broadcast licensing opportunies.

    You really should speak with a entertainment agent in Germany to see how you can milk that DW cow.

    Maybe there is enough opportunity for you to saw both ends of the log by getting in someone to take your place at your day job while you exploit the TV programming opportunity.

    If you are also known as THE independent Porsche subject matter expert, and not just RC at your business, your customers might admire you for that. Porsche after all is
    a German automotive icon. I donno your situation or micro culture. But if I was you, I would definietly speak with a entertainment agent and maybe in other case, offer to write and produce the program using someone else for the talking head presenter talent.

    The press is the same in the USA. Still it would have been awesome to be able to tune in to German television and watch a sports car enthusiast, and Porschephile at that, tell Dr. Wiedeking that his company is "wimping out" and possibly bringing to market an emasculated update for the 911Turbo.

    Then maybe you need to pitch it differently. There is no
    "complete" Porsche story available for broadcast or on DVD.

    The market for it would be pretty good in the US alone, and here they repeat the cable/broadcast automobile history shows over and over, wich means kachiiiiing on the licensing cash register.

    DW has a chance to score some major bucks in the US with this subject. Maybe they dont realize that. You have already PROVED that you can build a international audience, so for your kids future don't be shy.

    Talk with a agent there and get him to pitch it. Its just business.

    I can't believe FOX 6 is getting Autospies opinion, shame.

    Really? I ordered it at the beginning of Oct but the production won't be earlier than Feb/Mar 06'.
