Nevertheless - the introduction will be spectacular as they put a 50-year AMG anniversary car on the street. This car will be available for 5 months only. Apparently the limitation is given by sales-period and not by number of cars, interesting!
The car should have looked like this from beginning on!

It's more than just a GT-S with GT R body though, it has more power and revised suspension as well... I like it a lot!

I test drove the GT S begining of the year, the engine is bombastic, but I don't like the long hood and sitting so far behind the front axle. This did't gave me the right feeling for the car in corners, also in the city I did't feel confident especially when turning left or right in smaller streets.
Driving the Boxster or a 911 gives me the feeling I have 100 percent control over the car. It's the very confident feeling when driving a Porsche. I missed that in the AMG. In the Porsche I feel direct conected to the steering and the front wheels. The car reacts 100 percent as expected on steering input.
I would really love to like the AMG because of the engine and the sound.

Funny wise - I was driving the GT-S and I felt it was very very agile and felt extremely short . This saying, I was at that day going to AMG with my SLS, which indeed has a long hood. The GT felt very much like the 991 - just, it had this cool feeling that you are sitting on the rear axle. I think the GT has the name GT for a reason. It is the Roadster Feeling from old Brits and the muscle feeling of modern US big blocks.
I would never compare it with a Boxster. You compare a sports car which handles like a go-cart and while the performance of the GT is just another league. I guess, if you would have had the 991 to compare it would be a different judgement. If you step out of the Boxster, the Carrera feels, long, heavy and under-steering, too.

Really? I had a Boxster as a loaner recently and I was a bit shocked in a negative way, I gave to say. Could not wait to be back in my car
I think you misunderstand me - all I'm saying is that the Boxster feels much shorter and through the mid-engine like a go-cart.
Other than that the Boxster feels like half of the 991. No doubt about that!
Gorgeous car and perhaps indeed the pick of the range. This in silver with the lightweight forged AMG-wheels, yummm!

No difference I agree but have w long has the merc GTS been out for at least in the UK 2-3 years....still feel sorry for GT and GTS owners

Different opinion here. The GT-C / GT-R looks pretty awesome. If they would have launched the car in the beginning like that, it would have sold much better. But you know... once it is ruined it is ruined.
Many of my SLS friends are having a GT-R on order. They all think they hit the jackpot. They assume the the car goes double in price, once it is up for delivery. I can't believe that. I actually believe, that within a year you will see cars available 30% below MSRP.

Agree, AMGs depreciate heavily. Even the SLS is, at least in the UK, still below RRP now.
