New car in sunny, humid and dusty weather...what to do?

What would be your advice for protecting a Porsche in a climate that rarely rains, is quite dusty, and relatively hot and humid most of the year (20-45 C, 68-110 F)?

The biggest problem is the swirl marks from cleaning the dust. Would a wax layer solve the problem? If so, which brand is suitable for dust, sun and heat? Rejex, Zymol, etc...

Any advice for getting rid of the dust (that is from the car, not the climate )?

What about cleaning and drying techniques?

Any sharing of experiences is appreciated...thanks

Re: New car in sunny, humid and dusty weather...what to do?

Obviously, a wax layer or a poly layer would help. That way you're scratching the thin layer of protection, that is removable and restorable, not the paint. Invest in a California Duster. And try not to just "dust" all the time, if the car is really cruddy, wash it. For the rest, there's plenty of old threads that covered all of this, maybe somebody with a bit more time could link them here for you. I've gotta go host a little car collection tour....

Re: New car in sunny, humid and dusty weather...what to do?

I 2nd the California Duster, and keep a nice layer of wax on it at all times. Maybe even consider a car cover if possible.

Re: New car in sunny, humid and dusty weather...what to do?

Salaam! Did you get your new car? If yes mabrook and enjoy in good health. Don't forget to post some pictures please.

    1. I strongely recomand that you add V-Cool tinting to your car windows. It makes a big difference.

    2. Take your car to Z-Bart and ask for the gold treatment, its expencive (1500SR) but worth it. After that just wax the car every 1-2 months.

    3. Most importantly, do not remove the dust from the car surface with damp clothes. This will create swirl mark for sure.

Re: New car in sunny, humid and dusty weather...what to do?

Has anyone gotten swirl marks from the california duster?

Yarub: yeah, i think I'll go for a transparent tint. And can you tell me who's z-bart dealer (or their number in riyadh)?

The car is being built...it should arrive within a couple of months (i'm told)....my nerves can't take the waiting any longer...

Re: New car in sunny, humid and dusty weather...what to do?

I was in Jeddah yesterday and I saw a Z-Bart shop on my way to meet a customer; Sorry I am not familiar with Jeddah so I can't tell yo where it was. The number for Riyadh branch is (01) 455-4434.

Re: New car in sunny, humid and dusty weather...what to do?

Swirl marks from California Duster? No way, it's too gentle.

Z-bart????? Are you talking about the same "Ziebart" where they spray goopy gunk inside your engine compartment, the wheel wells, and drill holes and spray inside your doors and jambs?? Or is Z-bart in Jeddah an outfit that does a paint "sealing" process. In either case, I wouldn't do that to my car if they PAID ME. Those coatings are snake oil, a sham, a scam, a waste of money. Just apply your own quality poly-coat, and you've accomplished the same thing that any of these "paint sealers" are doing.

Just the utterance of the sound "Ziebart", here in the States, makes car enthusiasts and collector's hair stand up on the back of their necks...

I'm just wondering if your "Z-bart" over there is the same deal, the same business. If so, I wouldn't send a farm truck there.

    Hi 69bossnine,

Always meant to ask: Is your car collection open to the general public?

Yes we're talking about the same place. I always thought that they were good. Whats the problem? is it the quality of the products they are using?
