    Question about sport chrono

Since I don't get mine until Thursday, I"ve been trying to find out about the car more in detail so I can drive off fully prepared.

With sport chrono without PCM, I realize that you cannot record your lap times and download them, as they are not stored in the on-board computer. How exactly do you look at your lap times with the clock? Do you just take a quick glance and see how you did? How do you reset the timer? If you take 10 laps around a track, do you hit some kind of reset button each time (thus taking your concentration off the track)?

    Re: Question about sport chrono

I have honestly never used the clock or lap timer. The only reason I switch my sports chrono on for is the crisper throttle response.

    Re: Question about sport chrono

You reset the chrono with the computer stalk, bit fiddly/pointless.

Looks nice lit up on a night

    Re: Question about sport chrono

    Mine doesn't light up!

switchin' on sports chrono will affect the drive?

    Re: Question about sport chrono

    Hi Nachi,

Welcome to rennteam. Yes, sport chrono induces some software changes in the vehicle:

    PSM intervenes later
Throttle response curve is more aggressive
If you have the tiptronic, I believe the shift pattern may be more agressive too

    Re: Question about sport chrono

The sport chrono is pretty useless for lap timing since you have to manually activate it. I'd like to see anyone here start and stop their sport chrono accurately to within even TENTHS of a second much less milliseconds while driving.

I use it to time how long it takes me to get to the grocery store along different routes.

But the sport button is nice. I hardly use it nowadays because it's hard enough for me to get used to ONE throttle map, much less two--makes for confusing heel-toe action.

And the car doesn't remember what mode you were in before you turned off the car. THIS IS HIGHLY ANNOYING. If you're like me, your preferred mode of driving would be Sport mode with PASM in regular mode. That requires two button presses every time I get in the car--hit Sport, then hit PASM to turn off the stiffer shocks.

    Call me lazy.

That's a good thing teutonic but I don't think we were talking about that
But your sport chrono "wart" will light up at night when it's activated
