DaveC:
I understand the sentiments about Porsche sports cars. My father thought Porsche lost its way with the 924 and 928!! However, the wife and I are beginning to consider a replacement for my daily driver (G35 Infiniti). She currently has an 11 A3. In addition to Porsche we shopped Lexus, Infiniti, Audi, and Mercedes for a "crossover SUV". The very best of the bunch was the Macan GTS, her independent conclusion based primarily on the driving experience and quality of materials. Cargo management and passenger accommodations were better in some of the competitors. You have to give credit to Porsche for developing their non sports car vehicles with at least some of the Porsche "spirit".
We just got ourselves our 4th Cayenne. We always try something else but in the end...Cayenne it is (SUVs).
I'm not a fan of the Macan, sorry because in my book, it actually misses the typical Porsche feel. Can't help it but the Macan feels different, there is a certain stiffness/solidity in the chassis this car lacks.
