Check out the F430 Spider for sale in the UK at: http://www.v12online.com/ - am I right in thinking there is very little premium on this car?? Are the days of large profits on the F430 over...?

Re: No more premium on F430?

I held off on getting a 997 and have been trying to get a spider for 30-40 over sticker for several months now as that is all I can pay and no luck ... here are 5 - 430 spiders in LA that were available and are all sold now , they went from 320 - 350 a 100K + over sticker . I found one last week for 300 and that was still almost 90 over . I test drove a 430 and after owning 911's for 20 years have to say it is a completely different world ... OMG ! It is so frustrating not to be able to get the car close to MSRP becuase it is really an amazing car . The test drive was far beyond my expectations .. I think the Ferrari would be a natural progression for lots of Porsche buyers if the car could be had for MSRP .

I was told by a dealer yesterday to wait as the 2006 model will be here soon .

Re: No more premium on F430?

It's manual not F1 which brings the price down a bit.

since the F430 is on the market for a year now, it's not unusual that prices are dropping a little bit. compared to other cars, depreciation is still a dream.

    with this car:

it's a manual -- always hard to sell i'd presume, especially as a spider -- and it's red. on the german market interestingly red F430's are the cheapest. probably because most speculators ordered their cars in resale-rosso and there are a lot available -- but on the other hand i've heard from a german dealer that most germans want their F430 in black or silver.

Re: No more premium on F430? *DELETED*

triple black is the color that brings the most in the US

As zzboba said, manual is one reason (the F1 is simply too good in the F430) and rosso corsa is not ideal for the Spider at the moment. No problem if you have the Berlinetta, but Spider is currently more sought-after in a colour different to red. After a couple of years that all could change and red could do better.

But no problems with a red Berlinetta anyway.

Re: No more premium on F430?

That's Andy Cohen's place in the pics.
Amazing the difference in Market values between the UK and US.
OCEAN - Don't mean to be a party pooper but the 360 Spiders weren't selling for 30-40 over sticker util the 430's launch. It could take years until the Spider comes down from $100 over to $30-$40 over. For a non mint car you will probably have to wait until the 430's predecessor before getting one there. And by then you'll aready be lusting over the predecessor.

Maybe you should buy a cherry 430 coupe for $30-40 over and get assurance from the dealer for a Spider at MSRP. That's who they're selling MSRP Spiders to. That way you still only have to shell out the 30-40 over and get your Spider but you'll get a coupe immediately to enjoy while you wait. And you'll get to spec the Spider which makes waiting no big deal and delivery even more fun.

Re: No more premium on F430?

Andy seems to be the guy who is the most on top of it when it comes to finding a 430 spider in the color combo you want . He said to wait and get an 06 as they will be out soon ,,,, as long as I have it in time for Gumball 3000 2006

Re: No more premium on F430?

I stopped by my local Ferrari dealer for 1st time in several years (previously owned Modena was purchased from them). Salesman is straight shooter and told me they haven't received any 430's for about four months and will take delivery of only 2 next month. They did have 2 Super America's, but one was being picked up by new owner. Oh, dealer has orders for 200 430's, so I didn't bother placing order. My guess is something is wrong with that car or there is a typo.

Re: No more premium on F430?

like i said in another thread ,i found in germany a 430 manual tranny for 3% under msrp.. f1 make the whole difference.
you wont find any 430 f1 even close to msrp...

That's the combination, that is VERY typical for Britain: rosso corsa and crema interior, often combined with red accents like carpets or the Daytona inserts as in this case. And of course manual for the Brits.
This may sell well in the UK, but will raise some problems for the rest of the world.

Everything clashes in this interiour, too many colors, the alu with the cream, the bordeaux red carpets with the Rosso (?) exteriour the yellow in the rev meter, the black dash, the red stitching/inserts

There's always some space for Aspirine in the centre console...

Re: No more premium on F430?

I couldn't agree more with the comments on that interior. I was shocked when I started looking for a 360 that red and crema with bordeaux carpets is the most popular UK colour scheme. It looks truly awful and as Zurich says everything clashes. I'm ashamed to say that it seems that most people in the UK have little or no idea when it comes to style and matching colours. I saw a 360 spyder in scuderia red with red leather seats and bordeaux carpets at one dealer. None of the reds matched. Another dealer has a tour de france blue car with a bordeaux interior and blue dash/carpets. It is hideous. It is true what they say - money cannot buy taste and style.

Re: No more premium on F430?

And here is the tdf/bordeaux car..... why would someone do this??

Re: No more premium on F430?

OCEAN, what website did u get those listings from? I wanted to take a look at the photos for the black/tan spider. Thx.

Drive the 997 Turbo...and then talk to me again. The F430 has been a "breakthrough" for Ferrari, from all aspects. The same will be the 997 Turbo for Porsche, you'll be surprised.

Re: No more premium on F430?

What will be so different about the turbo this time ... looks like a great car from the spy shots but looks wise nothing really new . RC have you ever driven a 430 ? You are in Germany right , where you can get the car at MSRP and drive with no speed limits on the autobahn ... my god

RC, don't mean to be rude, but perhaps you should stop tryiing to persuade people, that no matter if they've decided for let's say a F430 or a Gallardo, they've made the wrong decision since the 997tt will be that much better.
Sure, the 997tt will be a great and damn fast car, as the 996tt was damn fast, as the 993tt was damn fast and even as the 964turbo3.6 was damn fast.
But the turbo was always and always will be nothing more than a beefed up 911 Porsche, whereas cars like the F430 or the Gallardo are unique and are playing in their very own league, called "affordable exotic supercars with fantastic looks, sounds and great performance". The turbo Porsches are as fast as those cars or may be even faster, but that's the only thing they have in common. The turbo is no "Carrera GT for the poor man", which would justify to put it in the same class as F430 or Gallardo, it's just anonther version of the current 911. It's just like saying a BMW M3 is as good or better as an 911, just because this car is as fast as the Porsches. I'm sure you would never do that, right?

So let me put it this way: the F430 (or Gallardo SE if you want) is an extraordinary good car, which offers the following to you: extreme acceleration, speed and performance which are among the best what you can buy for the money you have to pay for the car, stunning looks which will always put you in the middle wherever you appear (perhaps not to anyone's liking but surely a fact), possible for everyday use, although most of the owners won't use those cars like that and - last but not least and it hasn't always been like this - top quality although you buy a rather exotic car.
Sure, I know you are exited about getting your 997tt which will be cracker, no doubt, but so are the others who are waiting on their F430/GallardoSE or who already own a 360/CS/Gallardo etc. pp.

    Got it?

Re: No more premium on F430?

Your comments are all very interesting - although I do not like it, Red/Cream is seen in the UK as a "classic" colour combo and is the most popular colour scheme I have seen over here!

In response to RC's comments - I think he may be right that the 997 Turbo will have the "excitement" factor that the 996 Turbo never had (just like the 997C2S has over the 996 Carrera)... So if I had that much money to spend I'd prbably wait for the 997 Turbo to see what it has to offer, before choosing between an F430 and a Gallardo - I'm sure they are all great cars, and those with the choice are truly in heaven!

If you really love do drive fast and enjoy being the quickest my advise would be to go for the Porsche turbo. Its efficiency, level of refinement and quality is unqiue. You can only fully appreciate it on an unrestricted Autobahn.

While the Ferrari offers lots of emotions and is a work of art the 996TT is still the most efficient and refined sports car on the market. I am looking forward to the 997TT
