Its a Mk 2 GT3 and belongs to Fran Staedler who's member of Club Pasion Porsche from Spain... I think "Carlos from Spain" knows this fotos... (Hope Fran doesn't mind)

Is the GT3 MKII faster than a 996TTS??? Or a GT2??? I believe not. That car is on a dyno run or the GT3 has a huge speedo error. If you provide me the GT3 gears/diff ratio and rear tire size, i will prove you that something is wrong with that pic/car? The only stock P-car that is capable of beating a unlimited M6 is probably the GT2 MKII and the mighty CGT.

Driving a completely delimited M6 at top-speed appears to be very dangerous.

A friend of mine (who owns a M6) tried to obtain the required approvals to delimit the car completely (he currently has it delimited to 305 kph).

The feed-back he received from the tire companies, reputable tuners and the M GmbH was very negative. Aerodynamics and weight distribution on the rear tires are apparently the major reasons why nobody would give warranty on a completely delimited M6.

I think this just proves the inaccuracy of the speedometers. The Gallardo for example, tested by Automobilismo, did 309 km/h at an indicated 331 km/h.

BMW has one of the best speedo accuracy. In the vid with the bikes you can see the speedo reading more than 330kph, the driver is saying 335kph and if you look at the rpm the car is probably at 7800rpm. The gears/rpm calculator showed me that at 7750rpm the M6 goes at 319kph real speed (same that GT2 MkII - Porsche statements) and at 8000rpm it goes at 329kph (the redline is at 8250rpm - 340kph).

Did you use the REAL tyre circumference? And why not use GPS? Circumference can vary greatly between supposedly same wheel size and sidewall heights.

Re: BMW M6 vs Ruf 996 Turbo R

The M6 on this video blew a tyre on another ocasion at 300+... Aparentely they heard a noise, stopped checked the tyres and saw nothing (due to the RFT), got in the car and ran it to 300+ speeds agin!!! Thats when the noise became louder and when they came out of the car a hole on the tyre could be seen (so they say...)

That was stupid, if not totally moronic and potentially suicidal or even homicidal. If I hear a loud bang, I'm going to get my car inspected before running it to such high speeds again.

Re: BMW M6 vs Ruf 996 Turbo R

one thing everybody knows... the guys of m5,m6.board publish only the videos that m5,m6 wins... and i dont believe that a m6 do that with a 996tt... the m6 is soo heavy.. if its true the videos.. the new porsche 997tt will not be faster than this **** bmw M5,m6 im sad

Re: BMW M6 vs Ruf 996 Turbo R

I've seen the M6 is action. A friend of mine owns one and its unbelievably fast. We had a small race on a deserted road but I was in my '04 maserati Coupe, not a slow poke at all, and he flew by like I was standing.

Re: BMW M6 vs Ruf 996 Turbo R

    i want to see a drag between a 996tts vs m6 and 997tt vs m6

As a side note, I don't think a lot of people at the M6board were happy to see the mighty M6 being beaten at its specialty, drag racing.

This 996tt is a definately a tip.. Thats why the M6 is faster. A manual 996tt will not be slower while a tts will definately be faster than any M6. Now bmw comes close to the pace a 911 turbos. Those bmw forum members should stop smoking that staff..

Re: BMW M6 vs Ruf 996 Turbo R

someone has the video BMW M6 x Ruf 996turbo R? i didnt see this video ... thanksss

Agree with the point of BMW has one of the best speedo errors
AMS tested M6 and get some speed errors on several speeds
One of is the real speed is 152 kmh but the speedo shows about 160kmh.
Another can any of 500hp Ms(m5 or m6) can see 8250rpm on 7th gear?? I am not sure!!

Last point Gallardo goes 200mph(6th gear 7400 rpm) and 400 rpm to go max hp peak, and 700rpm to redline of 8100rpm
In the calculations of gear/rpm/speed issues it sees 335km/h at 7800rpm and about 345kmh at 8100 redline with the speedo error ofcourse
BTW with the AMS's test to the M6, if you take the issue 160kmh(152kmh) the error is %5 th real speed at 330kmh(on speedo) is 313kmh

It's not that great, actually. The E55, while indicating 309 km/h, actually does a real 306 km/h. Verified with several different GPS devices (it was hard to believe at first). Might also be a variation from one car to another.
