    My 997 C2S has just broken down....after 6 months and 2k mil

    Sad to say, leaving work and just as I was about to enter the roundabout, the car stalled (its manual too). Wouldn't start. Left it for a while and started again, but cut out again.

    Hope its nothing major and something related to a fuel problem.

    Very sad.... waiting for the tow truck to take me home

    RAC chap turned up in 15 minutes even though massive traffic jams around Sunbury and the M3......

    Fingers crossed its nothing serious.

    Most probably it's computer/electrical related. Despite the fact that the car is under warranty, it hurts. Sorry bud, but it's a car and these thing happen. Your baby will be fixed back to you soon

    I'm hoping it's a quick fix and you're done with PITA unexpected trouble for the rest of your ownership. A few years ago my brand new BoxsterS went bonkers a few weeks after getting it. Seems a burr from some plastic part made the thing stick and the warnings made me think the engine exploded. I guess the "deburred" it, it never stuck again and I haven't had any problems since.

    I had that happen to my ML and it turned out to be a bad alternator

    Thanks guys for your support. Car with Porsche Hatfield and they still haven't looked at it....hope to have some news later today.

    6 months and 2k miles? Blimey you need to start getting some longer journeys in, as that is a waste. 10 months and 9000 miles later

    Agreed - once I get it back...my company BMW 535D will be spending more time in the garage.

    PS - Porsche Hatfield only started to look at my car at 16:00 today - very disappointed.

    Fingers crossed for the phone call tomorrow with the diagnosis.

    Thats the attitude and I bet neither of our cars have broken down. Cars that break down and merely sulking. A greta big thrashing soon sorts them out

    Prashan, best of luck for your baby. I know that if it were to happen to me, it would feel like another family member being in the hospital!

    Prashan I think it is the fuel pump too, a friend of mine had the same problem with his 997 carrera cabrio, and his car was only 1 wk old... replaced under warranty of course! Best of luck and hope u get ur baby back in no time (wkend is coming up!)

    Thanks guys..... the frustration is so painful.. I have succumbed to asking Porsche Assistance to give me a loan car - will be a Jag, Merc or BMW... Had always pinned my hopes on the car being back soon - my dealer can't even confirm if the fuel pump will be delivered tomorrow...

    Sorry to hear that. Sounds like a supplier problem...IF it happened to other 997 owners too. I had the fuel pump exchanged on my former ML55 AMG twice but happily, it didn't fail immediately, it just made a weird sound, announcing it's soon-to-happen death. Good luck and keep us updated.

    Car Fixed: My 997 C2S has just broken down

    Dear All,

    Glad to report - my car has been returned with a new fuel pump. I have to say the dealer principal from Porsche Cambridge (original supplying dealer) intervened and highlighted my issue with the Porsche UK regional manager - as a gesture of goodwill they asked Porsche Hatfield to fully valet the car - when I collected it earlier - it looked as good as new.

    Looking forward to putting some serious miles on the car now. Thanks for all your support.
