    A new Vette

I know this will not interest Porsche owners but I was in a brand new corvette with a friend of mine, his car not mine. We pulled behind the light and here came a 68 Z28, rusty body, crooked chassis (bent from a previous accident), the exhaust was hanging by a wire. A piece of junk. The guy pointed as if he wanted to race. I laughed and looked at my friend and said whip his a...
I could not believe my eyes the camaro walked away from a brand new corvette with 2000 miles on it. We did not if we should laugh or cry. At the next light I showed the kid a thumb up and he was very gr8ful that it was not the middle finger. The moral of this story is that you just don't know who has what under the hood.

That guys got my kind of car , as long as its backfires when you park it up.. .

    throt...

    Re: A new Vette

That's precisely why you should never drive around with a chip on your shoulder. Because there's always a few rusty shade-tree-built cars rambling around the county, that can give an Enzo fits up to 120 mph. 10 and 11 second fox-chassis Mustangs are as common as taxi cabs in central Florida!! Of course, you toss a sweeping curve into the mix, and they fly into the ditch!! LOL!!!! All things in perspective..... Sounds as if you guys had the right attitude, kudos to you for giving the kid a thumbs-up, all fair and safely-run races should end that way, regardless of the disparity between machines, both mechanically and monetarily.

    Re: A new Vette

Amen to that my friend. I have been in so many fast cars mine or others with a date in the car with me. Pulling behind the light monster hot-rods with superchargers and nitros have pulled next to me trying to race. The girls always say look at this piece of shi.... he thinks he can take you. I just smile and say oh leave him be sweetie as I know he will beat me but the girls are clueless. People think becasue it's a Ferrai or Porsche it will take anything out there, NOT SO

    Re: A new Vette

    Good deal!

I had a very unobtrusive little Ford Fiesta in front of my big Audi S8 once during an Autobahn drive. At first it was a queueing situation where nobody could go fast, then the queue dispersed one by one, and I briefly tapped my indicator to ask the little one in front of me politely to move over so I could pass. He wouldn't budge and we continuously accelerated. Next time I looked at my speedo, we were cruising along at 240ish kmh. I met him at a service station later, walked over and gave him a thumbs up, wondering what kind of hellish machine he was actually driving. He laughed and confirmed that it was tuned, and mentioned he learned to be a very patient and cautious man since buying the car because other drivers in the fast lane just never recognized that, yes, he was in fact planning to go much faster than they were.

    That learned me

    Re: A new Vette

That's nice you gave the other guy the thumbs up. I try to do stuff like that. It's the enthusiasm for cars; no matter what the equipment or checkbook looks like.

    Re: A new Vette

Bottom line my friends, the car ethusiast takes pride in his car no matter what make or model it is. And if some of us driving a better car why insult the guy, right?

Now from time to time to see arrogant punks in Vettes, Mustangs or Japanese cars with hair dryers under the hood, they are rude and nasty and get obnoxious on the road. That's when you either teach him a lesson, if you can that is or change your lane or use the middle finger which is not my 1st choice

Good points all. I'd like to add that if I'm driving the Carrera everybody already "knows" they're beat. So I always try to respond in a friendly manner. Then, If they're iceholes maybe they'd wonder why the guy in the [vastly superior and extremely desirable ] Porsche was being friendly even though they acted nastily.

10-4 NMD afterall you are in the winner car no matter what!
