How do you disable the cut-off on PSE?

    Hi guys,

Those of you who have the cut-off figured out(Seven, Red997 etc.) Would you please post what your mechanics exactly did to achieve this? I want to put my plug back on again, neighbours moaning too much hahaha. Only thing that really really really irritates me is the cut-off. How can I enable the system to work like it should with out the cut-off?

I spoke to my Porsche Center, they said the system is different from the 996, where there was a wire that they just removed from the instrument panel. They say on the 997 it goes straight to the DCM or DCE (what ever they said) and it need to be programed to achieve this. Except they have no clue what to reprogram etc.

    Much appreciated thanks.

    Unplug this connector

Unplug this brown connector to have your PSE "on" all of the time. No "programming" is necessary. This prevents the vacuum switch that controls the PSE baffle flaps from activating.

(this is a 996 engine, but the connector is in the same place.)

    Re: Unplug this connector

Thanks for the reply Orient Express, but you misunderstood me , I have that mod done already with the hose disconnected. I want the hose to be connected, except for the PSE to work like it should (when sport is off PSE is off and when sport is on vice versa) except just without the cut-off valve.

    Re: Unplug this connector

Can you explain some confusion to me: Is the cut off tied to 'speed' or tied to 'rpm'? And, what is the cut off range again?

Speed, it cuts off around 50km/h till about 75km/h

    Re: Unplug this connector

    Thanks.

    Re: Unplug this connector

Your dear Porsche mechanic should put a (on/off) switch on the cable from the DME to the electrical connector. There is no need to change the software. With the switch you can bypass the cut-off by turning the switch off, or have it work with cut-off by turning the switch on. Just like switching a lightbulb on and off. This is what I got done for my 997S. My switch sits under the instrument panel (reachable from the drivers seat), but I am sure you could add a button to the PCM as well if that is what you desire. Note, the switch has nothing to do with the Sport mode. You can enable PSE without cut-off in non-Sport mode (just like unplugging the vacuum hose or the electrical connector).

The PSE cut-off is, at least, using both RPM and speed. If you labour the engine hard under 50km/h it will cut-off... or you can idle over 50km/h without cut-off.

    Re: Unplug this connector

bluelines, can you maybe get exactly what was done to your car emailed to me if you do not wish for it to be public? Such as what kind of switch etc. which wire etc.

The people at my Porsche Centre refuse to accept that there is a solution for it. "Apparently" they have tried everything for it and I want to prove them wrong. Plus I want my car to be setup like that so the neighbours will get off my case it would be of great help and I really appreciate it! thanks in advance

    Re: Unplug this connector

Well, this is my interpretation of what they did... Dig out the 997 electrical circuit diagram (the mechanics at your Porsche dealer obviously has this somewhere), find the electrical cables going from the electrical connector on the vacuum hose back to the DME, cut the cable, put a swich in between which allows current to either go through (on) or not go through (off), install the switch somewhere in cockpit. So, instead of having the original cable going from (A) the DME to (B) the electrical switch on the vacuum hose, I have a cable going from (A) the DME, to (C) the on/off switch, then to (B) the electrical connector. If I turn the switch off there is no current controlling the connector and voila no cut-off

    Hope that helps!

    Re: Unplug this connector

Mike, you can simply have the mechanics at the POrsche centre install a switch in between the "connector" that unplugs the flaps. Then have a buton to actuivate the switch in the cockpit. So when you want PSE on all the time you just turn the boton ON, and if you trun it OFF you have PSE fusntioning as factory intended.
I have asked my Porsche centre mechanics if they can do this, and they saiud it shouldn't be a problem, its just a swithc connected to a biton in the dash. I may do this but haven't had the time to take tha car in, and I'm not in great need of it.

    Re: Unplug this connector

...or you could simply put in a switch

thanks for the suggestion Carlos I'm in need of it, so my neighbours would just get off my case lol! I've never met people so irritating before...

Thanks bluelines! you're a legend! I will email my dealer what you have said to me. Will let you know what they say about it.
