    997S VS. 993TT

    I had a C2 Turbo 3.6 which was a gr8 car in 1994. However I am confident my 997S is faster any time any where. I have driven many 993's but never the 993TT. I wonder if you gents know how the two compare. 997S out handles the 993TT but how about acceleration and top speed??

    I nearly bought a chipped 993TT a while back - at a great price. Wish I hadn't let her slip through my fingers. I was torn between the drivablility of the 996TT and the looks/feel of the 993TT, and it wasn't an ideal time to buy in. I didn't like the feel and throw of the stick in the 993 after putting some time in on the 996 - but I'm sure there's a short shift package for the 993 out there that would have helped.

    I am waiting out for the 997TT presently, and am sure it will be the best of all concepts - love the feel and throw of the stick in the 997S.

    I still can't get over the looks of the 993 though - that will always be my favorite.

    specs for MY96 993TT:
    408PS at 5750 1/min / 540Nm at 4500 1/min
    top speed: 290km/h
    0-100km/h: 4,5s
    80-120km/h in 5th gear: 5,3s

    997S:
    355PS at 6600 1/min / 400Nm at 4600 1/min
    top speed: 293km/h
    0-100km/h: 4.8s
    80-120km/h in 5th gear: 6.1s

    How does the 993TT drive compared to a 997S? Sorry, I don't know. My 993TT 'experience' is only in the passengers seat and my 993C2 feels so slow compared to my 997S

    My neighbor down the street owns a 993C2(NA), I've been a passenger in drives, and it's nice. He still has the stock shifter-that long stalk. Yes, slower than a 997C2, but she still purrrrs like a cat.

    Ed - Are you sure your 997S is faster than your Turbo3.6? That was a wicked car. Quite a bit more torque (and similar power and weight) than the 997S, no? The 993TT is a very quick car (quicker & faster than the 997S) and they can be modded for well over 500hp and 200mph should you desire.

    Grant: Buddy I have no doubt, my C2 3.6 was fast but I ended up putting headers on it and changed the intercooler, chips etc. then it became a wicked car and faster than the 997S. Heck just as fast as the 996TT when I had the mods done. But the stock car could not beat the 997S. At least mine could not. Driving the 996 and 997 series for a while made me not like the C2's or the 993's anymore. The transmission was awful in those cars and the handling was not all that impressive. For some odd reason I do miss the air cooled engine though:(

    I maybe worng but the C2 Turbo in the U.S. had 360 h.p. only????

    Two completely different cars. Each fantastic in their own rights. My 993TT is heavily modified (630 hp) but even at stock it's definitely faster than the 997S.

    Amir: Gr8 cars, thanks for sharing. I agree while the 993TT is not as advanced of a car it does have it's own unique feeling to drive. I am sure the 993TT is faster than the 997S, off the line at least, closer on the freeway. But I still think my 997S is faster than my C2 3.6.

    Always good to be here guys.

    It's an Andial 3.8L conversion with dual stage programming. It puts out 571 hp on pump gas and 630 hp with 100 octane gas. The conversion consists of: GT1 turbos, dual plugs, light flywheel clutch, GT2 inter-cooler, titanium connecting rods, Pss-9 suspension, F50 Brembo Brakes, RS shifter and so on and so on.

    From a roll it keeps up with my Carrera GT. Lots of Turbo lag though compared to even the GT2.

    Amir: My God your car is a monster. Perhaps you already have the 997TT acceleration The Carrera GT is a beauty even if it was the slowest car on earth, that car demands respect everytime I see one on the PCH. I was reading an article where the Ferrari Executive said the Carrera GT was quicker on the slalom than the Enzo.

    Amir,

    Looks like your GT2 has the hots for the Ferarri - you may end up with a Cayman in another 9 months.

    Beautiful cars you have there - and I think the 993TT is the prettiest of all...

    The 997 Carrera S stands no chance regarding acceleration. Regarding top speed, both cars are almost doing the same top speed but due to the higher power, the 993 Turbo gets there much earlier. On the track, the 997 Carrera S is superior to the 993 Turbo.

    RC: I don't get it, even if the 993TT is faster, off the line 0-60 they should be pretty close. I mean come on 0-60 even the 996TT will not walk away from the 997S easily. Yes it will beat the 997S it and pull away after a 1/4 mile but off the line they should be close. One of my neigbors has a 996TT cab (2005) and the other one 997S (2005) 4 times they have raced form light to light and the 1st 2 gears they are side by side as of the 3rd gear the 996TT pulled away by 2 car lengths and once shifted in 4th they hit the next light.
