    Removing the irritating Speedo Noise

    In my CT, once you hit over 130km an incredibly irritating buzz can be heard. I usually drain it with music...Anyone know a way of removing it....

    Apparently it only takes seconds to do - you just have to know where to look!

    If memory serves me right, there was a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) about wind noise coming from the front windows. I believe they had to replace a small part.

    I would check with the dealer.

    Thanks Matt, but I think we are talking about different things!

    I am talking about a factory installed Siren - which automatically goes off once the car hits 130km. It's a speed alarm - to tell you you are going too fast!

    I didn't know these came on customers cars. At the dealership we have Cayenne Loaners and they have buzzers that go off once you hit 70 I beleive it is. You are right, It is very annoying. If you want I can ask the service manager when I go in on Thursday?

    is it the speed limiter noise? I can tell u how to fix it. YOu can change or remove it

    You can manage the speed limit alarm on the PCM unit.
    Press trip and choose limits.

    Ahh, speedo, not speed it is. Sorry for that.

    Make sure to check all places where you can set a speed limit for notification. One is the PCM as others already pointed out. But there's a second one, which you can set/change/turn off through the Multi-Purpose-Display (operated through the rocker switch at the wiper stalk). Go into the "main" menu and then "limit". The two limits are independent from each other.

    You can remove the sound but it has to be at your dealer. Here in kuwait we have 2 annoying sounds. one for the seatbelt not on and the other for above 130Km/h. You can only remove one or the other but not both its supposedly for your safety . SUCKS i know, but thats only solution.

    Hi Guys,

    This is definitely not a PCM unit issue...It's a hardware configuration. Deetz, do you know the hardware that needs to be removed or unplugged? My dealer tells me it takes only a few seconds to do it - therefore perhaps it's under the hood?


    Fireo, I can see the need to remove the Speedo Buzzer, but surely not the seatbelt! I never drive without it - even if it's just down the road!

    It would help us a lot if you'd tell us WHERE in the world you live. Do you hear only that sound or do you also see some sort of number/warning on the PCM screen?

    I went to the service and i asked them to remove it, and they did. :S but when i asked them to remove the seatbelt alarm, they said on 04 model we cant, so there u r just take it to the service and they will do it to u

    It's the most annoying sound as well! I always ask the dealer to shut it off when I buy a new car.
