    Nav just installed and I am getting an error

    I just had Nav added to my 06 997 and I am now getting the following error: "imcompatible navigation software: My DVD unit was bought from Brandwine Porsche and my DVD ROM was bought from Navtech. The DVD ROM number is S0006-0070-411 10.2004. The model number from my DVD Unit is 997-044-900-70. Upon looking in the Tequipment 911 box there is an Nav Update #000 044 900 89. Anyone know if I need this? The map comes up but I am sure there is something that will not work.

    What I learned is the PCM unit/software seems like a *very* mysterious blackbox. I had problems with my CD and there were like 30 items in the dealer/service tech manual that they had to run thru and STILL didn't figure it out. I'd say, in the end, you're probably going to have to call the Brandywine or your dealer/service guys and have them try to figure it out and tell you what to do, or, more likely, have them do it. darn! Good luck.

    I had the same problem with my car. The only thing they have to do is to change the navigation CD to a later edition.

    Thanks for the info. So far everything works fine with the current DVD disk, I just get an error across the bottom when I first go to the Nav screen. Do you know what version of DVD ROM you have? Mine is S0006-0070-411 10.2004.

    Also I'm trying to figure out a way to turn off the CD or Radio and use the Navagation. I find it hard to believe that one can't use the Nav without listening to the radio or CD. So far the only answer I have is turn down the volume

    If you go to "Audio" and set you can check box for Mute. This does not Mute the Navi system

    Ah, I wondered about that myself. I just switch to radio and turn the volume down, then with RDS Traffic Info here in th UK the volume automatically turns up for traffic info with the radio left on.
