    Re: Artic Silver Live Aerokit

I love the front of the aerokit-amazing. The wing however does not fit the lines of the 997 at all.

    Re: Artic Silver Live Aerokit

That wing is hideous and looks like something some riceboy would add to a Civic.

    Re: Artic Silver Live Aerokit

Wing? Wayyy Wayyy toooo toooo much for me. But if the wing attracts the chicks where you live: go for it. Where I live it would repulse women.

As far as the front? I have serious philosophical objections to trying to further jazz up the already non-functional center section of the front bumper grille.

The front is great, the wing looks awful. I wonder how they could do that to such a beautiful car?
The wing of the 996 GT3 MkII was nicer and even the larger GT3 RS wing was much better than this one.
I'm afraid the 997 GT3 gets the same wing, it is a pitty.

    Re: Artic Silver Live Aerokit

Thanks for the nice shots .

I saw a black one w/ Aerokit at the local dealer in person, the front looks beautiful but the back looks really out of place. I thought may be the rear doesn't look good in pictures but in person it is even worse. Like the fron though.

    Re: Artic Silver Live Aerokit

Both the wing and the front look terrible. It looks like something that would come out of a tacky aftermarket manufacturer.

    well said ............

    Re: Artic Silver Live Aerokit

IMO the Porsche airokit does not event come close in design to the TECHART or Rinspeed kits. Somehow the Porsche aerokit does not fit the 997 design at all. That wing is just silly. It might do the job better though...

    Re: Artic Silver Live Aerokit

I hope that the 997 Gt3 RS will have a different rear spoiler (like the Cup car ,but obviously smaller ) ...I'll replace it immediatly .
Cargraphic produce a good Cup replica ....maybe .....

if u like I repost an Aerokit in speed yellow ...better for me ...this is a sample pic

    Re: Artic Silver Live Aerokit

Front and rear the kit is not for me..

    throt..

    Re: Artic Silver Live Aerokit

the rear wing would go good with your hair

    Re: Artic Silver Live Aerokit

i love this aerokit... really makes the car look diffrent.. not the best wing... but im really not that bothered about it... niiiiiice!!!

    Re: Artic Silver Live Aerokit

The real deal is the Factory Aerokit:

    Aerokit Cup Aerodynamic Values:

    front end lift force 0.00
    rear end lift force -0.02
Notes:Note the real downforce on the rear axle.
Former Aerokits only reduced the upforces.
    Negative values represent downforce.

    Stock Carrera Values:
    front end lift force 0.05
    rear end lift force 0.02

Funny you never hear about aerodynamic values from the aftermarket suppliers....I wonder why that is

    At what speed?

    Re: Artic Silver Live Aerokit

BTW, does anyone knows if the upper flap of the Aero kit rear wing is adjustable?

What are the units of measurement, and I'm also interested in what speed they were measured at?

    Re: Artic Silver Live Aerokit

That wing is simply awful....truly awful...I hate wings already - but this thing....YIKES!!!

Aerodynamic values are measured in extremely expensive wind tunnels. How many aftermarket suppliers spend REAL money developing their kits?

The figures shown above are "coefficients", which do not have units. They are like decimal "factors" of the absolute quantity of "1.00". In other words, a coeffiecient of 0.02 is the equivalent of 2%. I'm not a mathematician, so make no claims for the absolute accuracy of this explanation.

Strictly speaking, I guess the above reference should have been to "front end coefficient of lift", and not "front end lift force", because force would be expressed in units of Newtons, or those hangovers from the past, pounds, or kiloponds (= kilogram force, as opposed to kilogram mass).

Coefficients are used to quantify aerodynamic drag or lift because their values remain constant regardless of the wind speed at which they are measured, whereas drag or lift forces rise with the square of the speed increase.

Are you sorry you asked yet?

    Re: Artic Silver Live Aerokit

Man I thought they got rid of the flying Taco with the last GT3. That wing sucks big time. But it doesn't matter as I'm not buying a GT3, the reason the 911 appleals to me is because of the rear seats. Might as well get the Cayman S.
