Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

Do you have the single or double transponder model?

Do you like it? Does it work? Do you mind having it installed on your beautiful car?

The Saint Petersburg Police use laser a lot so I'm thinking this might be a good thing.

    Thanks.

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

The Lidatek LE-30 is a very good jammer not only because of its performance, but also because its has the smallest transponder in the market (currently) due to its diode based laser source. So its the most discreet to install, if fact if done well it should be fairly tough to see the transponders unless you are looking for them.

But one word of caution, tests have revelaed that you need TWO trandsponders for it to be trully effective. Depending on the size of the car, the color, the enviromental conditions, the aim of the LEO, the distanced to the LIDAR gun, etc. if you only have one transponder it may very well not get the job done. So you need the DUAL transponder system. Also check to see if the police in your area also targets the rear, because in that case you would need to protect the rear as well, and don't qoute me on this one but I belive I have heard of it happening in Florida.

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

I was just reading up on it; looks good. Now I'm trying to rationalize whether or not to do it since I live in California.

    Should I or shouldn't I? Hmmmm......

I was going to ask how many of you P-owners in CA have laser jammers but I'm sure you wouldn't want to reveal that sort of incriminating info

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

I have had the single-transponder Lidatek since summer and it has performed flawlessly on a big sedan. Just buy laser jammers and get it over with. One more excuse for the cops: "Nope, can't get him. Hey, let's go get some doughnuts!"

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

Is installation a major operation? Is there drilling involved?

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

I have one on my BMW E39 M5.
    The single transponder version.
    Works like a champ

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

I know this question has been asked a few times before but I could never pin down the answer:

What happens if "they" somehow catch you with a laser jammer, **in California**?

Are we talking about $ fine? If so, how much?

OTOH, if they are going to throw you (and more importantly, the car ) in "jail", then it's an obvious no go?

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

As far I know it's only the "RADAR jammers" that are illegal....

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

Found this from Google. Don't know about accuracy. Anyway, both radar and laser jammers appear illegal.
So does anyone know what the penalty is? $ or jail?

    From http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/ . . . . .

    CALIFORNIA CODES
    VEHICLE CODE
    SECTION 28150

28150. (a) No vehicle shall be equipped with any device that is
designed for, or is capable of, jamming, scrambling, neutralizing,
disabling, or otherwise interfering with radar, laser, or any other
electronic device used by a law enforcement agency to measure the
    speed of moving objects.
    (b) No person shall use, buy, possess, manufacture, sell, or
otherwise distribute any device that is designed for jamming,
scrambling, neutralizing, disabling, or otherwise interfering with
radar, laser, or any other electronic device used by a law
enforcement agency to measure the speed of moving objects.
    (c) Except as provided in subdivision (d), a violation of
subdivision (a) or (b) is an infraction.
    (d) When a person possesses four or more devices in violation of
subdivision (b), the person is guilty of a misdemeanor.
    (e) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a person who has a
valid federal license for operating the devices described in this
section may transport one or more of those devices if the license is
carried in the vehicle transporting the device at all times when the
    device is being transported.

One can almost make an argument that even radar detectors are illegal in California. Or was this obvious already.

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

The penalty for having a laser jammer on a vehicle when it's explicitly prohibited is somewhere around $40. Not really a biggie.

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

Is it legal in Connecticut? What are the consequences?

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

My read is that it only applies to interferance with radars not radar detection.

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

Yes, Sato, I don't read anything about DETECTION. Interfering, yes, it is forbidden, but not detectors...

Well, looks like I'll be picking up a Valentine 1

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

I just did a search on Google; found this interesting comparo:

Looks like the Blinder X-treme may be the way to go. Any experiences/opinions on this product?

I was looking at the "neutralizing" clause of that section of the vehicle code. I think that a radar detector effectively neutralizes the function of police radar. But I could be wrong.

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

Keep in mind that radarbusters sells detectors and jammers so their advice should be evaluated carefully.

If you interpret "neutralizing" to extend to the driver's response to radar detection as effectively negating the ability of law enforcement to nail you, maybe. But that seems a stretch. And, isn't that a public good if the radar affects the behavior of the speeder to slow down?

IMHO I think "neutralizing" refers to the impact on the radar, rendering it unable to detect speed, when interfered with by a driver's device.

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

There must be someone here with friends in the "force" who would know, or could ask for, the answer re. penalty for having a laser jammer?
I mean if CHP thinks laser jammer *IS* a big deal, then it's really not worth it. If they think it's no more or less tolerable than a radar detector, I am in the shop tomorrow.

Ha! Leave the lawyering to the lawyers. I don't think you can get that out of this provision.

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

So, in California, there's no reason to "hide" a radar detector from the cops, correct? For some reason, I always thought there was.

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

There's plenty of good reason to hide a detector, even if it's legal. Law enforcement love to write tickets to drivers with detectors. If they see a detector in your car your chance of getting off with a warning approaches zero.

Re: Anyone out there own a LIDATEK laser jammer?

And, of course, there are those who see your detector and decide to follow you, too closely, hoping that your brake lights will serve as a warning against the 5-0. (I've been guilty of this)

If I would want to spend the $$$, I'd definitely opt for the covert installation... Does Valentine 1 offer this?
