    M6 vs 500 hp RS4 vs 996 Turbo

BMW M6 vs. 911 Turbo. Both cars original. Rolllings start at 50 km/h when we cross some cones. We end the race at around 240-250 km/h, looks like the 911 Turbo driver finish to floor it a bit before me.

    Re: M6 vs 500 hp RS4 vs 996 Turbo

man, the 997TT can't come soon enough

    Re: M6 vs 500 hp RS4 vs 996 Turbo

The comparison in the video is of very limited significance as the tested Porsche is not the current model but the old version with just 420hp.

In various tests the current TTS (450hp) has been confirmed to be slightly faster in the straight line 0-200 than the M6. Not to mention the 20 seconds or so on the NBR

    Re: M6 vs 500 hp RS4 vs 996 Turbo

I don't get this, the M6 should not be able to pull away from 911 Turbo like this. Something is wrong here guys. Granted the BMW is a fast machine, but as they speed up the Turbo should be right there with the M6 and not get blown away like this. Looking through the M6 rear window the Porsche looks like it's standing still. My opinion something
is not right with this video. One way or another even if the M6 is faster, it's not the same car as PORSCHE.

    Re: M6 vs 500 hp RS4 vs 996 Turbo

Sorry to say... but in a straight line aM6 will eat a 996T...

That BMW is a brand new car, with over 80hp on the 996TT, so the result isn't surprising. The 997TT will have no problem running away from it.

For now, it was a good kill for the M6 on the 996TT, but definitely not the slaughter I thought it would be with the power difference. The M6 had better enjoy it while it lasts.

I highly doubt the 997TT will have only 450hp. 490+hp seems more likely.
It seemed like quite a lot to me at first condidering the relatively small increase from the 993TT to the 996TT, but the 997TT will be facing some serious competition and will need that extra power.

If it gets only 450hp, it will be in some serious trouble.

    Re: M6 vs 500 hp RS4 vs 996 Turbo

Why do you get pissed if a car can easily pull away from the TT (or any 996's 997), there are many cars (stock) that are much faster than porsche.
I just love to go porsche hunting in my E60 M5.

    Re: M6 vs 500 hp RS4 vs 996 Turbo

I for one don't get pissed seeing a Porsche loose a drag race. As you said there are many cars that can out run a 996TT.

I just look at the facts as I see them. In that video, the 996 clearly lost the drag race, but I thought the M6 would absolutely obliterate it. It was a convincing win for the M6, but the 996 did a pretty good job considering how it's so down on power.
When the 997TT is released, the M6 will in all probability not be the slower car. That's nothing against the M6, it's a fantastic car without question, but if a 996TTS is pretty even with it now, the 997TT with its extra power (considering it gets around 490hp), should be faster.

Honestly, I don't find drag races very exciting. Acceleration is only one part of a complete performance package. Still, it's a fun topic to discuss.

    Enjoy your Porsche hunting.

Even 450hp would be enough. The current 996TTS is already faster than the M6.

I believe that a stock M6 will beat a stock K16 Turbo. I don't believe however that it can beat an X50.

    Re: M6 vs 500 hp RS4 vs 996 Turbo

The E60 M5 has no luck hunting the 996TT or even the 997S. Sweet dreams

    Re: M6 vs 500 hp RS4 vs 996 Turbo

No matter how fast the M6 is it cannot outrun its own ugliness.

Seriously guys. If you're into straightline dragracing or get off watching people driving like maniacs on public roads in an attempt to prove their manliness (re: RS4 versus M6), I suggest checking out this website instead:

We all have our preferences, but I honestly thought this forum was WAY beyond dragracing and straightline-power.
It takes very little skill to "eat" a 996TT in a faster car. Any [censored] can do that.
That just takes money.. to buy or build a more powerful car.

Learn to handle a car...REALLY handle a car - take it on a track - THEN talk about "eating", "owning" and "hunting" others.

Rich kids dragracing hi-powered cars is about as interesting as watching paint dry.

it just be some reason that every brands do targetting porsche!? ex: aston martin , bmw, merc, oh! and japs too!

    Re: M6 vs 500 hp RS4 vs 996 Turbo

and remember how old is 996 compare to 2005 m6!?

spend all these years!? still cant outrun the porsche on circuit!

    Re: M6 vs 500 hp RS4 vs 996 Turbo

    The M6 is a losermobile.

Its the King of depreciation and Lord of flashing system failure lights.

Its slower than a Corvette Z06, has worse panel fit than a Range Rover, worse steering than a Ford Mustang and needs a weekly software enema to cure its electrical gremlins.

Its made in Bavaria, by people who should know better to sell to those that dont.

Its V-10 is just the first ten reasons not to buy one. There are plenty more!

It seems that you should not have ended the test at around 250kph

    We did a comparison of a stock 996TT (x50, i.e. 450hp) and a BMW M6 very recently.

The result was that both cars show nearly identical acceleration up to 250kph (while the TT driver has a hard time to change gears quick enough to match the shifting speed of the M6).

Beyond 250kph the 996TT was slightly quicker, leaving the M6 behind.

BTW: Our findings also have a rather unfavourable implication for Techart products

In one of the videos posted by The Hawk a 510hp Techart TT was as quick as the M5.

I.e. 450 official Porsche hp are enough to beat 507 BMW hp. But 510 Techart hp just deliver the same perdormance as 507 BMW hp...

I second that plainly Dr. Phil. In fact I hardly ever see M5's or M6's on the trackdays I attend. M3s sometimes, but they are in a different league anyhow.

The M6 is very fast. Only above 250kph it is slower than the 996TT with 450hp...

    I totally agree!

For comparison: RStuning offers a GT2 based version of the 540hp kit. sportauto tested this car. The numbers where (approximately):

    0-200 slightly above 10.5 seconds
    0-300 in 28 seconds

That is a huge difference to the 530hp Techart. In fact the Techart is only as fast as a standard X50 up to 200kph...
