    Ferrari GG50 Concept by Giugiaro at the Tokyo Motor Show

    Ferrari GG50 Concept - World Preview

    At the Tokyo Motor Show Bridgestone will display the Ferrari GG50, a concept designed by Giugiaro to celebrate 50 years of activity in industrial design.
    Ferrari GG50 is a concept designed by Giugiaro to celebrate his 50th year engaged in industrial design. The model, based on the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, is not intended for production or sale.
    The revelation was made by Bridgestone Corporation, which will provide its Potenza RE050 flagship tires for the Ferrari GG50 and that will have the Ferrari concept on display at its stand at the next Tokyo Motor Show.
    Bridgestone has already supplied Potenza tires to a variety of new high-performance cars: they have been employed in some of Ferrari's flagship models, namely the 612 Scaglietti, Enzo and Superamerica models.
    The only information available at the moment are (obviously) the tires dimensions - 245/35R20 on the front wheels and 305/35R20 on the rear wheels.

    Well, pininfarina design is in a period of weakness (for example look at the 612 scaglietti).
    So let's see if giugiaro can do it better...

    I like 612 scaglietti, I don't know why everyone keeps harping on about the design. Even if I could be considered ugly, that would only be by Ferrari standards.

    Well, IMO the car is too big, too long, it has a too long wheelbase, especially the front mid-engine is not designed well. From the side view, the wheels are too small for such a big car, well the front view is much better ... but the back isn't. Look at the back of the 550 or the 456 which i like very much. But remember: this is only MY opinion!

    And you're probably right Farina. I haven't actually seen the 612 in person, so I probably shouldn't judge.

    I saw the 612 in pics and in person..
    and in the pics it looks much better.. in person its just ugly!

    I can't see how anyone can make this car look good..
    Any pics?

    It's the other way round here. I think the Scaglietti doesn't look good in pics, but better in metal, especially in dark colours. BUT, this doesn't mean it looks GOOD, as farina correctly said, it is too big, too long, the back is is boring and even the front could have been designed better, e.g. with a little more aggressiveness.
    Bring back the 456!

    I agree, to many that say it's "ugly" probably haven't even seen it. It looks SO MUCH better in person.

    There are a couple of 612's sitting in the dealer near me and I have to say I don't find it an attractive car either. The surface volumes on the design look awkward and make it appear bloated as opposed to taught, and aggressive. I'd agree that it is colour sensitive but I just can't get past the strange headlight design which has a creased edge at the top that flows into a crease line on the wing. Not one of Ferrari's greatest efforts IMHO. The 456 was a far more attractive car in it's day.

    the scaglietti lost out to bentley gt 100%.... you are right farina, that car is really out of proportion...

    I feel the same way. I had a hard time getting used to the car when I saw it in pictures, but when I saw it in person it looked alright. Nothing spectacular, and not Ferrari beautiful, but still alright.

    I used to think that Italian styling was the epitome of automotive beauty, but first the 612 and now this. I'm starting to have my doubts.

    On this angle , it looks like a rejected Corvette styling concept with the previous generation Chevy Impala rear clip grafted on .

    The profile from the side has some Aston Martin AMV8 lines, but with a longer wheelbase with a longer 612 Scag nose, as though Henrik Fisker were on the style team.
