    Ess Tee Eye.

    Coming home from work today on an empty stretch of two lane road a new STi comes up behind me, I stick on the sport button and check the mirror, he's all over me like a rash so I give him the thumbs up then floor it. Now before anyone starts I think the STi is an awful lot of performance for the money and I like them, and I know a modded one would stamp all over me, but this must have been stock, and he just fell away. It wasn't a thrashing, but he just couldn't stay with me. In my M3 I could never get away from these, this felt really good.

    Its a Subaru STI ,, and thanks for the hair compliment , you just got to watch it when the sunroofs closing..

    fritz , you should see how long the hair is outside when its caught in the sunroof at 100mph , its like a whip..

    I thought you might use it as a parachute-Pop open the sunroof and let it fly for those extra quick stops. Just make sure your seatbelts on or there could be trouble.

    I don't support street racing in any way. However, from time to time, it can be a lot of fun. The STi is an extremely fun car for a great price, but the Porsche is a Porsche.

    The way I figure it there's two things going here:

    1. I'm on a public roadway not a drag strip

    2. I'm the one driving the Porsche.

    Therefore I have nothing to prove to anybody. Let 'em burn right by.

    I agree actually MMD. I rarely get tempted into that sort of thing. To clarify, this was a dual lane road with no on or offs, kerbed all the way. There was just him and me. I think I probably hit about 90 (started at about 30) when I called it off and braked. If there had been even one other car in sight I wouldn't have done it. But yes, it was a public road and it isn't big or clever.

    Oh yeah. I get it. "Been there done that," as they used to say and be cool saying it. Still do it. Just pi**ed at myself later for taking huge risk (compared to benefit of having nothing to prove).
