    Which seat for short people?

    A lot of members have recommended sport seats for tall persons. But what about those who are short (like me, 5'3")?

    Standard, Sport or Adaptive? Will it make a difference?

    BTW, my dealer doesn't have 997 stock with all the variations. So I can't try it out.

    I'm about 5'4 and have the standard seat. Works fine for me.

    I'm 5'10" and I use the standard seat and have been doing so for 10 years. They work just fine.

    i have the sports seats and am 5'9", my good friend is 5'4" and they fit him better then the standard seats. But i think either wouldwork for you.

    I am 6'1, and the stock seats work just fine. Although when I purchased the car, sport adaptive was not an option in the U.S. Anyhow...these work just fine, and I doubt it will make a big difference.

    I am 5'6", and broad shouldered. I found that the sports seats caused me to hunch my shoulders too much - it was uncomfortable. I went with the electrics in the end. The main thing to do is try the sports seats. If they're OK, go with them maybe. You have to try them when driving. I found that a 20 min drive in the sports killed me.

    I gather that the majority are recommending standard seats in terms of comfort.

    Also note, that the Porsche brochure/booklet states that the sport seat is made of 'firmer' materials. I presume this is more suitable for track than daily street driving.

    Right... I think it's more about shoulder width than height.

    They are firmer..., correction, were firmer. When I first had them (adaptive SS) I wondered if they were too firm, NOW, mysteriously I don't notice the firmness anymore. Same thing happened on my new BMW sport seats. Not sure if the seat broke in or my anatomy adjusted... . Weird.

    i have the sport seats by the way, at the beginning they seemed unconfortable, but now they are just fine!!

    5'8" 160 pounds here; I got standard seats as they were more comfortable for me; and as far as firmness, the standard seats are plenty firm.

    Much as I wanted to like the sport seats--the sport seats look better in the 997 (especially on 997 cabrio) and fit like a cocoon, but sport seats seemed to force my arms/shoulders forward too much.

    I am 5'5" and 145lbs. I have no problems with the sport seats or the standard, having tried both. The seat elevation with the mechanical seat is quite adequate. I had a 99 Boxster with electric seats (P15) and the seat motor of the driver's side broke twice and was repaired under warranty. I was told this is not cheap to fix out of warranty.

    My wife is 5'5" and weighs 45kg. She felt comfortable in all the seats: standard, sports and adaptive. I think the 'premium' seats are better for taller, heavier people like me...I'm 6'3" and weigh 85kg.

    I had standard seats in my 2001 boxster and found them uncomfortable for long drives. I've ordered sports seats for the 997 after finding them more comfortable on a shortish couple of test drives. I'm the same height and build as wtsnet who found the sports seats uncomfortable It's obviously a personal thing, try and decide

    Couldn't agree more. All the seat options are fine - you have to find the one that fits you best. If I hadn't wanted the lumbar adjustment (which I think you can only get with the electric seat options), I would have been happy with the standard seats. The height adjustment mechanism is much better than on the 986 - a ratchet lever rather than a body-weight adjust thing. That means you can adjust the seat height as you're driving along if the sun starts getting in your eyes too badly. (Maybe it's just me that gets that? )

    I am 5'9" and like the regular seats better for my frame. I think shoulder width is probably a better criteria than height.

    It seems that the standard seats are so good that one doesn't really need sport seats, unless one has a large frame or recreational driving.

    I find it amazing how Porsche nailed the 997 so well. It's both a race car and a gentleman's car. How did they ever strike such a delicate balance between conflicting requirements?

    IMO, no other car maker comes close, especially when considering practicality! Hats off to the 997.

    Looks like I be the odd ball of the group, but after trying the std seats against the sport seats back to back I found the sport seats to be more comfortable overall actually. And the added bolstering for spirited driving is a bonus!

    I'm 5'7" 170lbs, broad shoulders.

    Go figure

    It's been awhile since I placed the order and I don't remember exactly what is what anymore, but my recommendation would be the powered seat (vs. the standard seat) if you are short and if my memory serves me right.

    The powered seat raises the seat platform, both front and back or however you want it.
    I think the standard seat tilts but does not truly raise.
    If you are short, I would think it's really important to be able to truly raise the seat. I am 5-7" and find this feature important.

    I thought the manual seat raises, but doesn't tilt.

    But he's right - the elctrics have much more (and finer) adjustment. you can adjust the tilt of the seat base. Plus you can program different settings into each key, and then the car will auto-adjust the seat and side mirrors (but not the steering column) depending on which key you unlock with.
