    Nissan 350Z????

Re: Autocar Magazine Special Issue 27th Sept 2005

You have to drive and you'll know... For that price nothing can beat it

Especially because its the Nismo version, although i wonder if it was the "S" or "R" tune

Re: Autocar Magazine Special Issue 27th Sept 2005

Not the standard 350Z. This was a Nismo version. Much much better.

Re: Autocar Magazine Special Issue 27th Sept 2005

Corvette C6 was in 17th place with 56 points.
Mercedes CLS55 AMG was 16th with 60 points.

Re: Autocar Magazine Special Issue 27th Sept 2005

    Way to go 911.....again.
I wasn't impressed at all with the standard 350Z, so the Nismo version must be much better.
I disagree with the placement of the 430.

Re: Autocar Magazine Special Issue 27th Sept 2005

Guys, I'll see if I can scan the article. There are lap times in both wet and dry conditions for each car.

Porsche 911 Carrera S, Lotus Exige 240R, Corvette C6 all has the identical wet lap time of 94.7 seconds. The only wet lap time lower than this was Ford Gt at 93.6 seconds.

The fastest dry lap time was Noble M400 at 76.6 secs. Porsche 911 Carrera S was 81.4 secs. Ford GT was 80.7 secs. Ferrari F430 was 81.1 secs in dry but a terrible 101.5 in the wet. AMV8 was 100.0 in wet and 84.4 in dry.

    NISSAN 350Z???!?!?!

Re: Autocar Magazine Special Issue 27th Sept 2005

    very nice placement!

Re: Autocar Magazine Special Issue 27th Sept 2005

It might include a cost factor? That would explain the placement of the F430.

Also - lapping in the wet is not that useful in my opinion. Nice to know the car can handle in the rain, but is pushing it necessary? Is that meaningful metric to use to rate a sportscar? Probably about as useful as comparing lap times in reverse gear. Junk data.

Re: Autocar Magazine Special Issue 27th Sept 2005

    Boxster S 8th??

    WTF?
isnt it the all time slalom champion?

Seriously, if it was time slalom I strongly doubt the Aston Martin of all cars would place higher than a Boxster S...

Re: Autocar Magazine Special Issue 27th Sept 2005

Boxster S is plenty cheaper than all the cars above and no doubt not far behind in lap times!

Still want a 997s but gotta be happy with my baby boxster!

This test was 'best handling' and nothing to do with slaloms or track times otherwise the Noble would have won by miles.

Re: Autocar Magazine Special Issue 27th Sept 2005

could someone please scan the article

i am wondering how this decision was made since its clearly not just lap times
