    Dealer dented my rocker panel! Need opinions?

    Hi All,
    My F&^king dealer raised my car on the lift for service and dented my rocker panel. They tried to cover it up with touch up paint. I didn't notice it right away because it's real low and about the size of a quarter. The car has only been to this dealer. I stopped in on Saturday and the sales manager agreed that it is obvious it happened by jacking the car. I need to meet with the service manager tomorrow. I can't believe that they tried to hide it! No integrity. It's certain they will pay to get it fixed. I am pissed because the car has only 5k on it. This is the second time something has happened with the same mechanic. The first time he scratched both by front rims removing the wheel weights with a screwdriver. They gave me new rims and tires. I didn't really mind. But now this is a different story. I will need to have the lower rocker painted. What kind of compensation can I expect beyond repair?

    Nothing.

    They fix it, its done.

    No compensation. Nice soothing words, a rental car and maybe some hokey tribute from the parts department.

    Maybe they dont like you.

    Jeez, that mechanic is costing them money. Get it fixed and a free oil change if they'll go for it.

    i personally think thats totally ridiculous!
    I mean, if they dented it and came out and told you about it, it'd be one thing. But the fact that they (he?) tried to cover it up is totally obsurd. I honestly would tell them that you will not be coming back there for service again and see what they say

    The rocker panel is between the front and rear tires. It is where the undercoating is painted.

    You probably will not recieve big compensation (if you're lucky maybe they will throw in a PORSCHE watch or something:) - be angry, make sure they grovel - it will make you feel better:)

    Report them to the Better Business Bureau! And for geez sakes DO NOT take it back there a third time so something else can happen!

    I would have them give me an estimate and request that a third party Porsche shop paint the damage area. After that tell them that you will not be returning. They'll probably stop you and try to keep it in-house to keep the cost down and retain your business. Perhaps then they will throw in a few perks.

    Call me anal, but when someone else damages your property, I think it's your right ask for it to be returned to PERFECT condition. Even if they could repair it so that it's not noticeable visually, YOU know there is something under there that wasn't the same from the factory. Make them buy you a new rocker panel.

    Rocker panel cannot be replaced it's an integral part of the body. They are trying dent wizard today. If this doesn't work then I'll have to take it to my body shop. Their shop does crappy work.

    i don't know why you didn't take it to your body shop directly, and have the dealer pay the bill. I really really really hope you dont take your car back there ever again

    o i c, then that's definately a problem. but for that matter, I'd rather wait longer for a great job, than get in right away & get an "ok" job

    The first dent or scratch always hurts the most. Your Porsche will never be the same if you don't get the job done right.
