    Bugatti Veyron

    Awesome car..
    Anyone know more details about it?? ie: When to be released, performance, price, etc?? Will this car make McLaren/CGT/Enzo's seem like Lawnmowers, or will the performance be only slightly better?

    If I remember correctly...

    8ltr W16 engine
    7sp DSG gearbox (7th only available over 215mph)
    252mph (or was it 258) officially now recorded
    0-62 in 2.5s
    1001PS (officially, although allegedly 1030-1050ish)
    922lb ft torque
    1888kg
    1m Euro + local taxes

    On sale now...ish!

    Yeah, i know. It should still be an awesome car though.
    Then again, when it comes out, Porsche would probably have made the succesor to the Carrera GT, which will run circles around it

    you know when you are walking down the street and you see this couple that walk past you. the guy is decent looking and the girl is just DOG ugly. and you wonder how on earth someone can been seen in public with somebody like that! then you start thinking, well maybe it goes past looks and she's got a great personality and the inner beauty shines through more than physical beauty for that guy. well in this case with the veyron, I'M THAT GUY! with perfomance figures like that i'd drive the car through the middle of milan

    These are the first pictures I've seen of this car. They took that classic grille and along with the front intakes mutated it into the mouth of an extraterrestrial in a B sci-fi movie. Aesthetics are an essential element of performance and this does not make the grade.

    The horsepower has been listed as 987 in some places and 1001 in others. Whatever it is, it's a lot! The car recently went 408 kmh if I remember correctly. It was over 400kmh for sure.

    The 1001 is PS, the 987 is SAE BHP.

    Good question Al. Haven't seen anything mentioned about that but I"m not optimistic. As I"m sure you know, manufacturers are reluctant to certify (crash test, emissions, etc.) such a low production car for the US.

    It's an incredible idea, but even VW are having trouble getting the engineering right. It must have been 3/4 years now since they announced it.

    Have they managed to get it to stop falling off the track yet?

    1,950kg
    0-100kph 2.5sec (matching Valentino Rossi's Yamaha)
    0-200kph 7.3sec (faster than Schumi's F2005)
    0-300kph 16.7sec (F575M takes about a minute)!!!
    0-400kph 55.0sec

    Are you sure about the comparison with the Ferrari F1-2005?

    I would have thought that Schumis car should do 0.-200kph in roughly 5 seconds which would be a lot quicker than the Bugatti.

    However, I must admit that the only basis for my statement is a sportauto article from 1989. In this article the Ferrari F40 was compared with the then current F1 (ca. 5 secs for 0-200). As the 2005 Ferrari F1 has more power than the test car and is probably also much more refined in all technological disciplines it should be at least as quick as the car tested back in 1989...
