    Re: Radar detectors

eddie. I had a top of the range Snooper on my last car, it was very poor. Got a Road Angel now and it's very good, picked up everything so far.

Sorry - I've been in Montreal this weekend...I've received several PM's concerning the integrated Valentine One in the rear view mirror (I posted it a few days ago). It is a custom built unit that a high end place near me (AI Design - www.aidesign.com) makes. They have a complete package too where they give you the integrated V1, with two K40 laser jammers in the front and rear. It costs roughly $4,000 inclusive of labor and takes two days to install. The integrated is defintely a plus over having the unit hang from the windshield. I cannot stress how much I recommend them. If you do decide to go through with any kind of project with them, mention the fact that Alfred referred you to them, or PM me and I'll let the owner, Matt, know that you are interested in the product.

Check out Champion in South Florida, they have been selling similar for 3 years, just a lot less money. Ask Revvv for more information or better yet call their parts dept.

Just one recomendation, do not get the K40 jammers, they are worthless, so just substitute in their place any other of the jammer brands mentioned in this thread instead of the K40's, I can't believe they are still selling those.

I was going to say the same thing about the K40's

    Re: Radar detectors

thanks for all your advice Carlos!

    cheers

    Re: Radar detectors

    glad to help out

    Re: Radar detectors

FYI... I tapped into the rear view mirror wiring harness on the 997 and got switched power for the 997 for a hardwire windshield install! Just sharing the news if anyone is interested. I posted the link on a separate thread but here it is for those that missed it.

Yeah, my bad. I mixed up the I and the R versions. Although with them being upgradeable I would think that you could also get Ku on the R with some tweaking. If you can find the 966 for 500 EUR that's great! I'd suggest this detector for use all over Europe. I'll be shipping my V1 to Valentine Research soon for the v3.825 upgrade. It really helps with the K-band falsing and Ka range.

    ajcastaneda:

    K40s are a NO-NO. Buy a Lidatek LE-30 and you'll be super satisfied.

Do you have de Euro-mode V1 version? cause if not you will really improve Ka detection with the v3.825 since it includes Euro-mode as well as US mode, and in euro-mode the V1's ka band is narrowed to the 34,360GHz+/-100MHz aprox of the european Ka radars, instead of the american Superwide Ka band of 33.6GHz-36Ghz.

The V1 is a great piece of engineering, if you just open it and look at the build quality is has inside compared to Bel,Escort, etc. the difference is like opening the engine hood of a Porsche vs a Fiat.

How do you like your V1 with european radars?

    Re: Radar detectors

Question for radar detector V1: Where is the best place fpr the V1, in germany it is illegal to have a radar detector, so where to hide it? Is the place in the rear good, does it operate correctly from the rear window?

No, I currently have the ordinary 1.8 v3.789 - I will be upgrading to the EUR version with the v3.825 upgrade. I have to say that it's quite nice as it is and has saved me quite a lot of money since I got it. Multanova 6F detection is good, up to 400 meters in advance, while the new Czech-made Ramet AD9 speed cameras, supposedly harder to detect than the 6F, can still be detected at almost 300 meters, which allows one to stop from even the most insane speeds (*knock knock* Veyron owners) in time. The K-band Gatso detection is close to useless in urban areas, with quite a lot of falses. The new version also reduces K-band falsing significantly, which in itself justifies the upgrade to me.
