Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

Clearly, they see the Cayenne as the Bench mark performance SUV.
Well they figured they just had to up us (Unofficial Cayenne Turbo S..W/ 500HP )by that extra 10 ponies....510HP (secretive on the torque figures, which we know can be the real killer).

P.S. Personally I congratulate them on there feat of engineering. But "looks-wise" it can't hold a candle to the C-turbo!!

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

The designers had no clue on designing that front bumper! It has no set theme, just random details and ideas.

my thoughts exactly, what are those two grey blocks for on both sides of the radiator air-intake? they should take them off, would look more clean

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

I think the design queue's are from Kia, I don't understand why such a great group of desigers of beautiful cars can screw up so badly on one model in the range.

I saw a new ML a few days ago, and before I realized it was the new Benz, I was sure it was that Kia SUV (Sorrento?).
Styling aside, this thing looks like it has the makings of a real winner, if it has a decent ride and a competent chassis to handle all that power that is.

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

i also believe the interior of the ML was inspired by that disastrous interior of the CLS...

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

Did anyone notice that they used the term "off-roader"? With the ML55, they were pretty straightforward in saying that it was NOT an off-road vehicle, in direct contrast to the stock MLs. Does anyone think that AMG's "sport suspension" on this thing will handle anything more than Junior's practice soccer field?

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

You guys are incredible, it's obvious that this car isn't meant for off road use, it's just a general term for this class of vehicle.

Second, who cares about design! This thing freak'n goes.........faster than a Cayenne TT..

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

    " ! This thing freak'n goes"
Truer words could'nt be said...coming from an "M5er--current design!

However, for some of us who spend good money...there is something still called COMPLETE PACKGE (Cayenne Turbo)!

Okay, so call me picky, but I think the term "off-roader" is even more disingenuous than "SUV," which semi-honest manufacturers have modified to "SAV," etc. when removing all realistic off-road capability. I bought an ML430 many years ago when I would have loved to have the power of the ML55. However, I do require a modicum of off-road ability. No, I'm not running the Rubicon, but I have driven Cayennes (not mine ) on worse off-road terrain than I ever plan to tackle, was thoroughly impressed with its abilities, and am reassured to know that my vehicle has the capability, if I ever need it.

I applaud AMG developing this car, especially this promising engine, even if it's not my cup of tea and the styling is, - well, - "eclectic?".

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

GM, if I were on a cheesy sit-com, my response would probably be: "Now, that's what I'M talkin' about!"

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

Exactly! It is a Kia! HAHA

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

Porsche can learn something from both Kia and Mercedes, like how to build a truck that doesnt have throttle lag.

As for body design style, the Cayennes rear end looks like a
fattened up London taxi, the Benz looks like a Anime Cab.

The ML63 is obviously a pumped up go fast station wagon with full time 4wd with no intention of leaving a road or trail.

The Cayenne at least has some genuine off road capability, as will the G series Benz 63. I cant wait to see a on and off road test of the New G63 and the 06 Cayenne Turbo.

they stopped producing the g63 and started producing g55's only. If youve got 250k to spare why dont you go buya g65 biturbo from brabus. im in love with g's, unfortunately my dealer has no more allocations for the g55k. its the ultimate mafia/gangster car imo. (no more g's for 2006)

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

New G coming out end of this year.
Old G will stay in the line up to satisfy die hard costumers as the new one looks, let's say, a bit odd, but it will definitely be more competent than the ML off the road, bigger too.
Haven't read this whole thread but it's funny how people praise a 500 hp Cayenne but think a 500 ish ML is ridiculous.
I think this car is nice, very nice actually.

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

long live the G, i will miss it dearly

Don't worry the "G" will still go on, but will now be owned by a bunch of soccer moms and trendy professionals!

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

Expect a Cayenne Turbo S early next year and a bit more power on the facelift Turbo.
And...the next powerkit stage is rumored to have 550 HP...and now I shut up.
Unfortunately AMG also plans a superduper high power version of the ML, rumors indicate "above" 600 HP. Ouch.
    The SUV wars have started...

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

SUV Salesman: And what type of features are you looking for, exactly?

2006 Soccer Mom: Easy entrance into driver's seat, DVD-entertainment for dog in back, and, oh,
OVER 500HP and MASSIVE TORQUE, obviously...

    Cayenne AMG

"Blue Kitty" channel...coming to Porsche SUVs worldwide soon...

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

ml is good. i would seriously consider it if it was lil more aggresive lookin.

How much more aggressive do you want it to look? It looks like it came right out of Sbarro's playground.
When my wife saw it, she said she would be ashamed to be seen in such a car. But Germany is a different market, we're the people who de-badge their cars, so the neighbor doesn't know that we're driving a S600 and not a S350.

why is that RC? because of jealousy and ppl try to keep a low profile?

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

I see the opposite where I live; people sticking ///M badges on 330Cis.

Re: Mer-B has jst gotten ridiculus this time w/ 06/07 ML 63

btw with air suspension i belive it will be quite an offroader i belive it can rise 90mm from a normal mode... what is the Cayenne setup whith a raised suspension?
