    PCM Telephone and short review of PSE

    I have a new 997 Cab and am curious if anyone has installed the telephone kit, where you simply insert your SIM card from a GSM phone and use the PCM? As I have a GSM phone, I am thinking of doing this if it works well. I am sure it is pricey.

    On the PSE, just got it installed and it is fantastic, every bit as good as the 996 version, which I had as well. I have Sport Chrono, but did not install the wiring, as I had it in the 996 and never turned it off.

    I have the telephone. Not too pleased with it as firstly it's a pain taking the sim out of my phone all the time (so much so that I don't bother) and secondly, when I make calls, the other person on the line usually complains that they can't hear me very well - apparently it sounds like I'm in a tunnel. Shame really as the Bluetooth kit on my last car was vastly superior.

    I have it installed on my cab and I'm pleased with it. As previously mentioned its a pain to take the sim from your mobile and install it on the PCM, so what I did is get a second sim card and its permanantly on the PCM. The benefit of having the kit is that you dont hear your mobile ringing when the top is down, with the kit you cant miss it. I hope it helps.

    Does it just work through the PCM and the cars speakers? So theres no handset and all that. I never really liked the handset in the previous cars so thats why I'm asking.

    RMP911 is your PSE always on then? and what about the cutout between 50.80 km?>?? what have you done about it??



    BC997j the telephone module does not feature a handset but for a small extra cost you can install it to have your privacy during phone calls.

    Although i admit the place that the handset is, remains a little odd.

    I never liked the handset in Porsches. You're driving a proper sports car and theres a big telephone sitting by you.NO thank you.

    I have the SIM tray but not the GUTS ...

    Dillinger, I had my PSE installed without elcetronics and it does not cut out at any speed. It is much more gurgly during warm up, when, I am sure, the mixture is richer.

    Just like yarub, I have two SIM cards with the same number, one is in my mobile phone, the other always in the car's PCM/phone. So when I'm in the car I just answer with the car's hands-free phone. Very convenient, and no need for aftermarket phone kits.
