Hi. Hope you like the pics. I got them off autotrader in the UK.
For your info I absolutely love the Atlas colour. My first 997S was a Coupe In Artic Silver but now I have a 997S Cab in Atlas and my October build 997 4S Coupe I hace specced Atlas again. The look of Atlas is very different depending on the light conditions but it is nothing like the greyey colour on the Porsche Car Configerator.

I really like Atlas too because it's rich, complex, and different. As great as Arctic is (and it is great), it's just too common. Black is too hard to maintain, Cobalt is too weird (our police cars are that color in Canada - the RCMP), Guards red is best on older models, speed yellow is beautiful but too flashy, Midnight is kind of dull and also relatively tough to maintain, and I just plain don't like Lapis. What does that leave? Carmen, Teal (I forget the name), Seal, and Basalt. Basalt is basically extra expensive black that's harder to match in the event of a repaint, Carmen is nice but reminds me of Buicks and Oldsmobiles from the 80's with the same color interior, and the teal color just doesn't look good on a sportscar (unlike British racing green). Seal is nice, but it's become the most popular alternative to silver it seems. That leaves Atlas - a great color, but Porsche should still have better choices than that.

Thanks, Persuader. Every time I go to the dealership, I do the Atlas vs. Black comparison. I think I love the Atlas, until I see the Black. Then I go back and forth, again. Then I lean towards the Atlas for essentially the same reasons everyone does. Then I lean towards the Black. Then I think about Basalt...then I try to see if I can tell the difference in Basalt and Black once the sun begins to set and the parking lot is overcast. Then I walk over to the Atlas and make the same comparison. Then I get confused...then I leave...then I think about it some more...until the next time I visit the lot. Then I look at Atlas...then love it...then I see Black, and well, you know.
My only real issue with Atlas is that I don't want "blue." Sometimes under fluorescent and bright sunlight it really looks blue (even purple at night). I like it best when it looks oily black, grey or that rich hue in the shade with medium light (almost a baby blue/grey mix).
Geez...will I ever decide?

I really like Atlas. Is Grey/Blue (two colours and you only have to pay for one car... 
..). Not a common colour (positive), elegant and discrete.
My option is going to be a cab Atlas and black.
I understand your difficulties to choose. My history is Red -> Lapis -> Basalt -> Red -> Atlas. I've not change my mind for a month so I probably stay with Atlas
